  • Animotion Masks

I was searching the interwebs today, and happened across a type of mask I had not heard of before. They are called "Ani-Motion Masks". Basically, they are made so that the jaw will move, and the lips will curl up when you open your mouth. I've already got a costume picked out, but I thought it might be fun to get one of these to try out for a night or two. I looked up some reviews for it, but they are all mixed- some saying that they're really great, others saying that they break far too easily. Has anyone had any experiences with them?

I also looked up some videos of them, so I know that they work pretty much as advertised, but none of them make any mention of how long they last.

The concept is great, the execution is piss poor. BUT- the masks are around $25 so that is what I would expect. I used a few the year before last (after a make over) and they lasted the season but did not function well by the end (werewolf models) the foam on the side of the mouth (the skin is foam) tore almost immediately. I ordered three this year to alter into Yeti masks (night fiend) and I plan on replacing the foam with silicone. The finish on them has taken a major down grade since last year- they seem cheaper to me.
They are ~$25 so for that price they are acceptable.
    That is my assessment,

It's the hinges on the jaw/lip thing that break the easiest- usually from someone over extending the jaw by hand. Simple fix by dropping a tiny bolt and nut through the hinge spot to replace the plastic.

        Animotion

I have used one in a small haunt and the foam separates very easy and are sometimes difficult to get the movement with it actually on but price wise its not shocking.
