What is the best source for affordable yet effective LED black lights? I have the old bulb ones but I want to try something that requires less power consumption. Anyone make them affordable but still makes uv scenes really pop like the flourescent bulbs do?

    Thanks in advance!

    Jake,

Your best bet is to go through a DJ website, may I suggest zzounds.com or 123dj.com?

And for the cost, Chauvet LED Shadow, super energy efficient and will cover more area than you can imagine. I have a couple I use for DJing as well as for the haunt.

Amazon might carry them for cheap too, it's about $100 wherever you go and will do the work of 10-20 regular tube fixtures and will have the lowest amount of energy consumption you can imagine.

And yes it is DMX controllable or stand alone with many built in programs. You couldn't do better for the price and coverage. Lifetime is 100,000hrs too I believe, don't hold me to that till you research it yourself lol. But I think that's about right.

The Chauvet Shadow is a good light but is very directional (with only a 20 degree beam). If you really want a replacement for your old fluorescent blacklights I still suggest the Eco bar we sell from American DJ with a 120 degree beam angle. It will light up your rooms with 18 3-watt UV LEDs but is non DMX controllable.

    This one Bill?

What do you sell them for? I'd be willing to give it a shot at my place this year.

It's a bummer it's not DMX controllable and beam aside, what would you say the throw is on it?

Actually that is a listing for the original Eco UV Bar, that is now discontinued. They came out with a newer model called the Eco UV Bar Plus, which I can offer at $140 (this should be the cheapest you can find anywhere). This is a very powerful black light that has 18 - 3 watt LEDs. The newer model is much brighter than the original bar.

Here is a great review of a few different types of Black Lights, including the Eco UV Bar Plus:

If you absolutely need DMX, I can offer these:
    P64 LED: http://www.americandj.com/ProductDet...temNumber=1651

and the UV LED Bar 16: http://www.americandj.com/ProductDet...temNumber=1892

Please let us know how we can help!
