  • How to build a Raised Platform lunge bungee scare

How do you build something like this? Does anyone have a video or a picture?
I read on a different thread, that someone built this and it sounds awesome.

Allen does, he shared it during a class he was teaching at Midwest. He used like 5 25' bungees from Harbor Frieght ( now there is a suprise, I think he is a paid spokesman for them sometimes). Maybe Allen can post some pics for you showing it. It sounded cool and I did buy 10 of the bungees for it and they we cheep if you order on line ( 10 because I am fat and I may get the crazy idea to try it out) I have not put the rig together myself but the most expensive part is a good harness. Good luck

http://www.harborfreight.com/25-ft-r...oks-99891.html Take the plastic hooks off and figure 8 knot them onto a screw link.

Make sure all your hardware will hold 2,000 lbs and make sure no one over 200 lbs is on it.
I normally use the attachment point that is on the upper back, but Im switching now to two attachment points on either side of the waist, that will be easier on the actor to get themselves in and out. My platform was 4ft high and 10ft back from the scarezone. my attachment point was 14ft high- it needs to be at least 12ft high to work well.

This is my old info that I posted in the past,
Get a better harness for comfort of the actor NOT the northern tool harness listed below (like I said this is older info)

***Here is a decent run down of what I did.
I used 8 of these, I added two when I used 180lb actors as opposed to 150lb actors, so get 10 total
                http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=99891
after taking off the plastic clips from each end a figure eight knot was used to tie one end to
                http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92414
then those were fed through a 2ft length of chain that was attached to an eye bolt at the tie off point. to find the right line height I simply had them hold the bundle of bungee cords and jump off of the platform (it was 4 ft high) when the right effect was achieved I cut the cords to the right length and attached those ends to screw links as well. they were then attached to a large hook with a locking latch that would hook to the harness.
                my first harness was http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...9724_200129724
It worked fine but was not comfortable with out extra padding.
                I then went to
                http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...2182_200322182
It worked great. An actor went out and bought this one for themselves and I was able to have two actors always harnessed up and able to switch out quickly.
                http://www.rei.com/product/789866
this harness was more comfortable for them but required a loop added at the back and a tehther clip to lengthen the bungee as it attaches above the waist as opposed to between the shoulders like the other harness, but it worked out fine.
their platform was a storage box that I use for storing haunt props. Here is a quick schematic of the layout.

                  this may sound stupid but.....

did you wrap the bungees together or leave them free (individual)?

Leave them free, you want them to not be bound by the slowest stretcher.
