Maybe it's just me, but I'm one of those people who would rather drive 20 minutes and save $60 or more dollars a night instead of paying tons of money on a hotel so I can be steps away from the convention center. If you're willing to drive a little then you can get some really good deals. Last year I stayed at Hilton at The Ballpark which was less than 5 minutes away. One year I was at Renaissance Grand. I usually use Priceline and save tons, so I can afford to do more while I'm downtown. I would suggest Priceline. Here's a hotel by the airport and you're paying less than $60 a night.
