When I say I was TIRED and SICKENED by all the NEGATIVE stories I see over and over again... This story is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

When stories like this flood media, you must have someone that can counter these things, and work to develope positive stories...

READ ON FOLKS... This is disgusting, but take it as a WARNING! This could happen to you!!!! Your staff could be sex offenders they could be anyone... if this was to happen to you you'd be over with.

You really hate to see stories like that. I wish that we could afford to do background checks on all actors. In a case like this though, that would not have even helped.

We can take precautions, keep people within sight of each other when possible, frequent management walkthroughs, etc. But the bottom line is that there is no way to guarantee that such things don't happen. And when it does, it is terrible for the industry (not to mention the victims). I bet the A-holes really thought it was funny to do that in a haunt designed to raise money for sexual assault victims. Sick.

One time I pondered the idea of giving the public a complete tour of this house, showing them my living area too.
I decided against it because I didn't need some wacky female saying "things" had happened here AND then she would be able to describe my bedroom and living quarters!
You have to watch out and play it as smart as you can all the time.
Unbeknownst to some of us, there may be some people we don't even know out to get us, financially or reputation-wise.
I have been told some incredible tall stories attributed to a young girl who lives 30 miles away from me. People must feel jealous or threatened ?
No, I am not a satanist and I do not have a meth lab in my house, sorry to dissappoint........

There was a local free tent right here in Mexico Mo that had gone on for almost 10 yrs and was shut down right before they opened. They caught the owner and another guy who runs it with child pornograpy material in there basement of the house where the haunt was held. Its really bad, when they use a haunt to lure kids in like that!

I can't believe this was in MY hometown Bristol newspaper. Chilhowie is just a few miles up the road. Oddly enough the fundraiser was for victims of sexual assault. I will respond to the paper.

In response to the story about the Chilhowie police officers accused of sexual misconduct in a Haunted House fundraiser...

It is sad that a fundraiser for victims of sexual assault, results in a minor being sexually assaulted and raped. As the owner of Krone House, the local haunted attraction here in Bristol, I'm not only am shocked at what happened to the child, but also the terrible negative image it gives to the many fine haunted attractions in our area during the Halloween season.

I caution and emplore people not to associate all haunted events with the one in the article. You should no more do this than you would tie these officers to all law enforcement officers.

Although our haunted house association, the Iinternational Association of Haunted Attractions, always recommend screening your actors and staff, you would never think to doubt or suspect a member of law enforcement. We, the members of the association, have worked hard to overcome a history of unsafe conditions to provide safe and fun entertainment for all ages.

Many of the Halloween attractions donate money to charities such as we do to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It would be a shame for other charities and businesses to suffer from adverse publicity like this story. Although we do not usually hire anyone under 17 years old, I know I will be screening, even more carefully, next time when it comes to hiring actors and staff.

Is there a law that makes adults who are in positions of trust involving minors even more guilty, deserving of harsher sentences?
Outside of town here the head of a summer camp was found to be the pervert peeking in the windows at the girls there and he took off, he was placed on "America's Most Wanted" TV show, he was eventually caught.
I think at that time this harsher sentencing issue was raised because of his job, handling kids.

Sexaull assault on a girl in a haunted house benifitting sexuall assualt victims- now thats just bad.

I agree with Jim, I think there should be harsher sentences in a case like this.
