  • Toxic Waste

I am thinking of doing a toxic waste set up, I have several 55 gallon barrels that I will be spray foaming and running green rope lights through them. I will be wearing a gasmask and one of those biohazard type plastic suits. I may also try running water through one of the barrels using a pump system and having it run into a big pit. Does anyone else have experience with this type of stuff? Any tips? Any cool ideas you'd be willing to share?

Most haunts do the toxic waste with florescent green paint and they black light the foam so it glows. I like to light those kinds of sets with claxon lights so there is not a constant light source. If you can add an LED inside the glass of the gas mask that you can trigger on and off. Make a few dummies that are dressed like you so you can blend in, then you can trigger the LED and lunge for the scare. Highlighter guts can make your water glow.

We did something similar with the water pump, then allowed the pump to dump the water back into a barrel from overhead and regurgitate the water. Rit dye in the water made it glow under black light. pretty cool effect

Thanks for the tips guys. Right now I'm trying to figure out if there is any where I can get more barrels for cheap. I have a large amount of space to work with.

Try you local road department. They hook us up with burn barrels all the time. They should be able to get you a few for free

Check with a local carpet cleaning company or a carwash. Businesses that use a lot of soap will normally have some plastic 55's around.
