Sorry, I have another question about the Smooth On class, is it resin casting? Lifecasting? Something else? Just curious!

Jake don't plan on attending if you're looking for haunt tours. These are not high quality haunt by any stretch of the imagination. Kim's krypt is a joke and as amateur as it gets and for Field of screams read their yelp reviews the lights in the trail consists of glow lights in empty milk jugs.

            You'll thank me later!

DA.....you know that old saying of "if you don't have anything nice to say..."? I wish you would find your manners. The complete lack of respect has driven so many people from these forums. And I'm not going to add fuel to the fire, but all you gotta do is play nice. Hard work goes into everyone's shows, and everyone's developed a following from their hard work. Personal opinions aside, there's just no need to talk bad about anyone's hard work. If you put as much effort into making your own quality show, as you do bad mouthing others, I would gladly pay to your attraction on a haunt tour. You don't even own a haunt from the statements you made previously, which only makes your blatant disrespect even worse. Let people make their own assumptions and try to play nice with others.

Bobby, it makes no difference if I own a show or not I'm speaking from a paying customer to these shows. The whole point if haunt tours is to see world class haunts. You can't call yourself a professional haunt tour and then tour amateur haunts, it makes no sense. It's less about the haunts themselves and more about NHC calling itself pro but it goes to amateur haunts and show is more like a mom and pop craft fair or church bazaar.

Again, those are all opinions. Sometimes the scariest haunts are the ones with that are total minimalistic when it comes to props, and our industry is super funky when it comes to reviews, a TERRIBLE one word review with 5 stars and 1 star could mean absolutely amazing experience or a cruddy one. It's just an odd setup, heck one star could mean it scared them to death as could 5 stars.....so although your reply was rather respectful, that opinion is your opinion, and it isn't nice to turn people off from an event that they haven't attended.

I will admit, the show wasn't all it could be a few years ago, but heck, even from last year to this year is a HUGE difference. I was debating vending myself, I cancelled last year due to lack of confidence in the show. But I was never treated with such respect, understanding, and professionalism in this industry when I get an apology letter from Rob, and then was invited to attend this show this year as a vendor. I was admittedly hesitant. But Rob and Michael took the time to show me everything they actually did to improve their marketing, showed the proof of increase haunt attendance from both attendees and vendors, and were very accommodating people. I have a lot of respect, and I feel like their past shortcomings have taught them a lot and they learn from year to year, exponentially. I'm not expecting to do much, if any sales, at this show. But we are attending in a sign of good faith and professional respect for people who went out of their way to do something nice both for me personally and for the haunt community. I doubt they're making any money doing this, but they're trying, and it's an effort worth respecting, even if you or anyone disagrees.

As for the two haunts specifically mentioned, I have never attended either (they're just too far away during the season) BUT their names are so well known, they have a major internet presence and many people know the names, even if they've never been. That alone is worth learning how to do and worth respecting. I won't speak about the haunts until I attend them, that's just the respectable thing to do, and if I don't enjoy them, I will atleast have enough respect for them to not say anything directly negative.

Regardless of the haunt tour the vendor list is incredible this year (especially for this event) and the classes are much better than they've ever been in the past, and I look forward to it as both an attendee and vendor!

You make some good points Bobby. The show IS improving, and its cool for what it REALLY is, as a local Halloween show its the professional title that bugs me.

As for the haunts, neither is well known at all. The Field of screams that is very well known is the killer one in Lancaster PA. The one in Maryland is the charity show and very amateur. And people mainly know Kim as the woman always trying to sell you her t shirts and stuff like that. Do you think you as a pro can learn from a place where the first scene is inviting people to push buttons on dancing skeletons and witches or singing Frankensteins? Or the best animation is a 15 year old electric chair prop from Distortions? Maybe you can, but I think the FOS in PA is a real haunt for a haunt tour.

                                Family and Friends Packs

Also, a reminder - ONLINE Registration will close WED, April 30th at Noon. Online only, you may purchase our special Family and Friends pack of four show floor pass tickets. Normally it is $60.00 for 4 show floor passes, if you sign up online, you will be able to enter at $10.00 per person on our group rate. Otherwise, entrance is $15.00 at the door for the show floor.

This is the first year you will see the professional FULL cast of Castleblood in full theatrical costume throughout the show and they will be managing the show floor for all vendors. The S & C Scarefactory will be running a haunted house in our new Pitch Black Zone during the entire event. Please feel to contact me if you have any questions or comments – both good and bad, we are always open to improvement and want to always strive for a better show for both patrons and vendors.

                                Sincerely,

                                Robert Hightower
