  • Totally dark room

You are escorted to a totally dark room where you are left all alone. You suddenly hear that terrifying sound!! What is that sound?
All at once, the lights come on and you are rooted to the spot in complete fear as you see ????
The sound and what you see do not have to be related.

    Bottle Neck

Cool idea but creates a bottle neck...

It would have to be a side attraction but Tampa Busch Gardens, I think Knotts Berry Farm and many other people have done this its a marketing gimmick type thing ... Larry

        Our Blackout Room

We've done a totally blackout room for years. Actually did a whole separate attraction called "Pitchblack" back in 2001, fpor a couple years. Totally black maze, mix of 90 degree and 60 degree design, just to screw with them!!! Everything was sensory.. hanging objects in paths, sound effects, light effects...had to keep their eyes dilated. So it was timed that about the time you started to be able to see, you walked around a corner and got hit with a blinding light flash or a strobe effect...back to blackness!!

The Black out room we use now is an offshoot of that attraction. Blind them, have them walk through a couple switch backs to set up a rhythm , then dump them into a totally black room. I don't bother with expensive Nite Vision goggles that actors will just destroy. If an actor is in the darkness for at least 15 minutes they will be able to see better that the patron who has just had their eyes dilated. When an actor returns from a break they just stay in a corner until their eyes adjust before their replacement leaves. Simple and cost effective.

Now there is stereo audio effects, voices and effects switching back and forth through the space. Actors can come right up to patron, whisper in an ear, blow in their ear, tickle them with a feather..what ever!! Some actors make them do stupid things..."find the level to get out" where is it!!!! "It's on the floor"! People will actually crawl around looking for the escape lever!!

Just a big black space and some imagination....it works!

Thanks! We still utilize a black room in our haunt today. It is one of the "impression rooms", means it is one of the rooms everyone says they like!
