  • Holy Cow someone is actually opening this Friday...

Check this out... who else is opening. These seems like I wouldn't do it fear of snow, cold weather and simply worn out. I can't wait to see how this works out. I'm interested in know! Larry

    MEDIA ADVISORY

IT'S HO, HO, OH NO! THIS FRIDAY THE 13TH AT THE
13TH FLOOR HAUNTED HOUSE'S FIRST EVER HOLIDAY
    BLACKOUT EVENT

What: The naughty list will never be the same. Santa Claws and his vile gang of demons (sometimes mistaken for elves) have stolen the list. Instead of delivering coal, Santa Claws will be taking the souls of the naughty list this year at the 13th Floor Haunted House on his initiation date, this coming Friday, December 13th.

Those who dare this Friday evening will be armed with only ONE glowstick and will enter the 13th Floor as a group in total darkness where monsters and mayhem await.

    How the BLACKOUT Event Works

Upon arriving, each group (NOT each person) is given ONE glowstick. After all participants sign a waiver of liability, the group enters the 13th Floor in total darkness.
There is no preset path, and it is up to each group to find their own way out. Inside the depths of the darkness a horde of monsters roam freely, equipped with the latest in night vision technology, ready to reap havoc upon all those that enter.

As people navigate their way through the haunted house, it is not uncommon for participants to get lost, separated from their groups, and/or have their glowsticks stolen by the terrors that lurk inside.

For some, the experience lasts 15 minutes, for others the experience lasts for HOURS. This event is not for the faint of heart and is not recommended for those under the age of 13.

Important Information: There is no predetermined path, there is no time limit, and there is no escape. If a group cannot find its way out or if anyone becomes too frightened, the 13th Floor staff will NOT escort them out.

If a group's glowstick is lost or stolen by a monster, it will NOT be replaced.

I'm going up to Fear Factory NJ next week, can't wait! We built them a custom giant skull for their facade, I might die laughing if there's a Santa hat on it.

So apparently several haunts opened on Friday the 13th... I wanted to start off by saying I was really excited about the one in September and that didn't do what I expected. I small spike but nothing incredible... so how did everyone do in December on Friday the 13th?

I'd love to hear how this was marketed as well.

                Friday the 13th Holiday Blackout

We opened 4 locations for Friday the 13th for a Holiday version of our Blackout event.

I was in Denver, so I will write about that.

We did much better than anticipated, my expectations were low as this was the first time we had done this, but it went well.

We decorated our covered queue area with Christmas lights, some severed heads with holly and lights, and some unit 70 characters. We had pretty regular Holiday music playing on our outside sound system in the queue. As people waited in line we served them all Hot Chocolate. We had a few "holiday" themed characters roaming the line. Prior to entering guests were given the opportunity to take a picture with a Santa Claws character we created, it was awesome. Because this was our Blackout event, each group was then given a candy cane glowstick to enter with. Inside we had a much more twisted holiday soundscape. The actors were wearing santa or elf hats, and makeup was a stark contrast evil elf style. We had a couple actors that were wrapped with battery operated Christmas lights that they could turn on and off quickly when they were scaring patrons.

The event was marketed solely through our existing customer database, social media, and of course word of mouth.

Overall feedback was very positive, everyone seemed to be having a great time, so did I, it was definitely a different feel and a lot of fun! I'll see if I can post a pic of our photo op.

I don't really know how they could do it! Ha! I know Valentine's Day is hell enough for us to open! But, I suppose if there's a will....
