Looks like we'll be seeing more of these movies remade direct to DVD. In terms of the ASYLUM theme from House on Haunted Hill... I wonder if those mentally ill advocates are going to lose some brain cells over this? LOL

Looks like Jeffery Combs is back in it...

Dark Castle Heads To DVD With WB

Dark Castle Entertainment, a joint venture launched by filmmakers Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis, has signed a deal with Warner Premiere to produce two or three films a year directly for DVD, beginning with the sequel Return to House on Haunted Hill, Variety reported. The company will also produce original digital content for the Internet and wireless platforms that will be used to complement direct-to-DVD releases, or to tell stand-alone stories that further the Dark Castle brand.

Dark Castle was created with the intent to produce low-budget horror films in the spirit of the late William Castle. Some of the company's previous films include House on Haunted Hill, Thir13en Ghosts, House of Wax and The Reaping. Warner Brothers launched Warner Premiere last year to make a play in the increasingly competitive direct-to-DVD and digital arenas.

Dark Castle will produce not just horror titles for Warner Premiere, but other genre pics as well, including action films and thrillers. The projects could encompass prequels, sequels and original titles that fit the Dark Castle brand. For the high-definition market, the companies will introduce new features such as "navigational cinema" technology that will allow viewers to interact with the storyline on both HD and Blu-ray formats.

Return to House on Haunted Hill will ship in October in both standard and high-definition versions. The disc will include seven viewer choices, leading to over 90 iterations of the storyline, according to Warner Premiere. Other film projects in development under the pact include the supernatural thriller Widow Whisps, the psychological suspense tale Odds and Cheerleaders in Trouble, an homage to 1980s slasher films.
