  • 2014 HAUNTED OVERLOAD progress thread

It's time to start a new progress thread. I wanted to wait until I had enough to post. I like making these threads because it gives us something to look back on in chronological order. Any time the media asks me for an interview I always send them the link to the current thread. It saves me a lot of time explaining our projects, and history it's all right there lol!

Old threads. It's fun to look back and see how far we have come. We still have a long way to go.

It should be an exciting year with the Legendary Haunt Tour coming. The giant 4 story glowing skull was a big hit last year, video of the construction below. I needed a new bridge this year to navigate a berm into the woods. What better way than a giant glowing Komodo Dragon type creature, lol! My goal each year with these projects is to make the structure look less and less like a building and more and more like a giant dynamic sculpture. This will be a challenge for sure but so worth it in the end. The weather in New England has set us back a bit so I have been working on revamping the web site and promotional graphics until the snow melts.

Every time people came around the corner in the queue line this is what we would see. I wish we got a shot where you could see everyones phone at once it was funny.

Video of the construction last season. We painted it with glow in the dark and invisable UV reactive paint mixed together. When lighted with a big UV LED light it made for an insane effect. Hard to capture the effect on camera but it was cool.

Mock up of the dragon bridge.
This will get the same treatment but I will use more colors and so some different shading effects.

Scale model of the dragon bridge. This took a while and it's only one of the major projects we have planned for this year.

Then I started with the web graphics. Splash page

I usually pick one photo a year and use that a lot in our marketing and website so it is somewhat consistent. I liked this one of the skull for the home page.

I just finished this one for the front of the 4x6 promotional cards. Club Flyers is having a 20% off site wide sale ending on the 10th.

These guys are worth their weight in gold! I can't say enough good about them. They are a pleasure to work with and take our vision and capture it with their own unique style. Their awesome photos over the years have been crucial to our success in transitioning from a home haunt in a very saturated market.

Man time is flying by! As usual I am behind with updating this thread. So much has happened since the last post, I have tons more photos than this but here are a few from the start.

Leaves are not even out in this photo. Cutting wood for the first of two old looking barn type structures in the corn field section.

Showing my cousin Jake the scale model of the new dragon bridge. Poles for it in the background.

This terrain makes it very challenging, especially getting a 20 foot 6x6 up the hill.

Check this score out! Cedar telephone poles. We are using them to build an elevated train trestle with crazy looking evil steam engine on top.

                    The poles are pretty heavy.

I think we just about killed Wallace sinking these massive poles in the ground LOL! This photos reminds me of something out of world war 1.

Positioning the railroad ties just right before anchoring them down.

This was fun, the Haunters Hangout! These guys do a great job I explain a lot on here about the scale models etc.

Things are in full swing, hard to find time to update but here are a few from the build so far. The train is not finished in these photos but it's looking really cool!

                      Time lapse from the start.

Skull carving for the front of the train.

                      Attaching the skull.

Tom did an awesome job on this! Hard to get the scope from the photo but looks so cool in person.

View from the top, looking down at the 36 foot clown parts ready to be hoisted.
