  • Dining in St Louis?

    I found this mildly amusing...

That aside, what are some good and reasonably inexpensive restaurants that haunters generally hang out at during Transworld? I probably spent too much time at the Dubliner and the convenience store the last time I attended the show.

        Hey Badger,

Try these. Rex and I have been attending Carmines for the past few years. The dining is quiet, great service, and the food is delicious. I favor the baked raviolis. Another one is Charlies Gitto which is Italian dining and haven't been to yet. Pappy's was mentioned for out of control bbq. All are in the downtown area. See ya' at the show!

          Pappy's is frickin AWESOME

...well that is until you have stood in line for 45 minutes...YES I said 45 minutes! ...and as you round the last corner of the line (that wraps around the restraunt and back hallway of building) just before you place your order they start crossing off items as not available. Watched ribs get crossed off...and other items mere minutes before placing order.

          GO EARLY....GO HUNGRY....GO EARLY...or stay home....but go early

Bailey's Range was introduced to me a few years ago and now it's a yearly tradition. Within walking distance of the host hotel and awesome food + service.

              Bridge Tap and Wine Bar

Bridge Tap and Wine bar. Walking distance from Convention center. Awesome beer selection, tons of wines, great small plate food. Pickled grapes are unforgettable. Must visit.

Or just call in a to go order and pick up within 15/20 minutes. Take it back to your hotel and enjoy. Much better than standing in line.

I'm currently sitting at the over under. It's good food and inexpensive. It's one of the closest to the convention center.

A note on Over / Under. I ordered wings last night which came out cold. I told the waitress who apologized and then brought them back to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later they came out again. They were pitch black. As in charcoal. I showed her and she apologized once again.
She went back to the kitchen again and came back and told me the kitchen was closed. In other words, the kitchen was closed so instead of making me fresh hot wings they retried my original wings to charcoal. They took my wi go off my bill but still charged me for my side of fries. Absolutely disgusting customer service.
