  • Best Intense Vibration??

We are designing a room with several "electrical" gags - We want to vibrate a large a large metal floor plate to simulate an electrical shock feel. I was told my best bet is a "Pneumatic Vibrator"

Does anyone have any experience with these?? or any suggestions - or ideas that would create an intense vibration?

Looking for a more intense vibration than I have seen with the sound style "butt kickers"

Here is what I was pointed to:

    Thanks!

I bought one similar to this but have not used it yet 9000 - 11000 vibrations per minute depending on air pressure. Make sure you check what air pressure you can use. make sure you check about installing an oiler

Go grainger and ask them because they have almost everything. I bet they could steer you in the right direction.

Thanks - the one I linked to doesn't need in line lubrication - seems like less to worry about. I will keep researching.

We did this a couple of years ago for an electric chair room. The patrons flipped the switch, nothing happened. The actor got up from the chair and flipped the switch on the patrons...causing the floor to go apeshit. We used a concrete vibrator from Harbor freight, built a subfloor and attached it underneath. We still use the concrete vibrator via our pay to scare, which is activated by a quarter outside by a monitor. This is a serious vibration and loud startle.

Your best bet is to search for and find corn vibrators ... they shake and vibrate steel so corn will move down the silos. I have heard of haunters using them for scenes. Should be easy enough to find. Larry

Thanks for the tips....Oh and Larry, searching for corn vibrator got some laughs from coworkers with the results that came up.....Some things just can't be unseen......

I purchased the pneumatic vibrator from Fright Props last season for our electric chair room. It was a simple yet EXTREMELY effective gag. I didn't think that such a small item could pack the punch it did. You could feel it from the queue line and even the ticket booth! I built a "u-shaped" bridge that wrapped the perimeter of the room and mounted the vibrator to the bridge. As patrons walked over the bridge, we had a scene in the middle where a crazy patient had strapped a security guard prop, which was our version of the pneumatic electric chair into the chair. As the crazy patient flipped the switch, the prop fired as well as the bridge and gave the patrons a "shock". It went over VERY well!! Can't wait to re-imagine a new way to use it this year. Money well spent (even though, like most props at FP, you can usually find everything at Grainger or some other source if you're wiling to do the research).

Thanks! I saw their product and it's definitely on my list - was hoping to find a version that did not need in line lubrication to worry about - but good to know how well it works.

To be quite honest, I didn't know how to properly use the inline lubricator cause when it arrived it didn't really have much in the way of instructions. I'm sure I could have google'd how to use it, but I just didn't know how to put oil in the thing or how much to put in. The thing has sat in the box since we received it. The vibrator jammed one time the entire season, but it was a simple fix...simply took it apart and dropped some oil directly into the vibrator and we were back in action. Maybe I'll take the time to figure it out for this year. hahaha
