  • Attendance 2015...lets hear it.

Thought we would be singing the blues at end of this season. Our non haunted maze opens early Sept and haunt opens last fri of Sept. and it started SLOW. Then we had to close 2 sat nights of Oct! and it snowed during sat. afternoon of another weekend in Oct....just little flakes in air but snow non the less. Well; our customers put us in what I have to call the win column. Normally I would say maintaining last 7 years avg. attendance is not great. But this year...I am happy as can be with weather hand we were dealt! Word of mouth, word of mouth and word of mouth were the top 3 reasons we did as well as we did. Throw in that we are harvesting our best corn and soybean crop ever and I am almost giddy. Now 'word of mouth" that includes social media. See the thread on here in forums "The solution to your social media..." This WAS HUGE in getting word of mouth out and getting it out at right time.

    side note...

There has been a lot of other haunt and mazes popping up all around us in that time period. I think 4 within a 20 minute drive; one 3 miles away. So lots of other choices as well.

I know a LOT of haunts in the southeast have had to close at least 2-4 nights due to rain and Hurricane Joaquin. I heard Texas got hit pretty bad this past weekend. Curious to know how others did across the rest of the country.

          best year yet......but

we have a train ride, our numbers are limited, but we had our best year ever. Very pleased with turn out, only had one bad night for weather. The problem is somehow we ended up "short" on the register one weekend. Not just $100 or $200, but about $2300 over 2 nights. No proof who took it, just sucks as we are a non-profit that is all volunteers. But still with this we had a record year. But its nice to done, except for teardown and clean-up.

Our attendance was fantastic this year. Overall, best season yet. We even had a great turnout with heavy rain and Halloween night wasn't too bad. Knocking on wood for sure

This was our best year yet. We had a few rainy nights, but overall the weather was slightly better than past years. We added a couple of the 3 minute escape rooms and they were a draw for customers and we used a new marketing program called GEO fencing. We reduced our marketing budget by 30% and set all time sales records. Also this was our 3rd year in our current location which really helped too. Last year the haunts in the Northeast were hit by storms and this year it looks like the South and Southeast regions were hit with bad storms. So sorry for our Southern brothers and sisters. Hope you faired through the storms.

Now we are focusing on Happy HorrorDays; our Christmas haunt in December.

We had a great year as well, down here in Southeast Missouri about 2 hours away from St. Louis. We pulled in close to the same numbers as last year, but due to a $1 price increase for adults and adjusting our age bracket from ages 6-12 to just simply 10 and under, we grossed more than we ever have, so that was great on our part.

Already got plans and room ideas for next year...only question is when do we start building! LOL

Overall, up about 25%! Even with getting rained out 4 out of the first 5 nights! The weather was almost perfect after that. We're near in VA near Washington DC.

We added a new attraction, so our deluxe ticket went from $19 in 2014 to $25 in 2015. That with 25% increase in attendance makes us pretty damn happy.

The Cardinals got eliminated early which helped a lot... at first even when they got the boot our attendance was still way way down, but then it sprung way way up. Overall we sold 25% more tickets online than any year prior, and overall attendance was up this year probably to about 15%. SO yeah we are super happy and onto working on opening for Transworld.

Well this was our first year here in southern Maryland and we did a little over 3000 people. Out of the six weekends we had planned on being open in October, we only lost the first weekend due to the hurricane, and had a new opening night the following weekend with only 50 people due to another set of storms rolling through. However that "soft opening" aloud us to see where we needed improvements and correct them. The remaining of the month gradually grew with our best night hosting 750 people. Overall we learned a tremendous amount and are looking forward to next years haunt.

On a side note the post and advice on this forum have been a tremendous help in the success of our haunt and I could not say enough good things about this community of haunters! I look forward to attending transworld this March for the second time and seeing what everyone has to offer.

Congrats to everyone who had a good seasozu.

                        Up - Up - Up

Up here in Northern Michigan at Screams In The Dark our attendance was up almost 3,000 from last year pushing us just to the edge of 10,000 visitors - We only had to close our trail and hayride on Halloween night, but kept all of our haunts open. This year we definitely noticed a lot more word of mouth buzz going on before we opened, and while open noticed a lot more people from further away visiting. This was our 4th year at the current location - We advertised on maybe one more radio station, but the rest of our advertising was about the same as previous years: Billboards, Radio, & Social Media.

Very good. More than doubled last year's attendance, and people really enjoyed themselves.

Oct 24th (typically peak of the season Saturday) saw a lot of rain in Dallas/Fort Worth but we still had good crowds. We are indoors, which I think helps. Oct 30th, also rainy but a big turnout. Then on Halloween- rain had stopped but we were skeptical because it's Halloween and folks go to parties, trick or treating, etc. But we blew up. 2+ hour wait a good chunk of the evening. All-in-all not a bad season.
