  • I need bodies!

What would you guys recommend for a first year haunt for bodies? We are a school themed haunt in an old school. Our storyline is a young girl who brutally murdered her female teacher who was dating a male teacher that the young girl had a crush on. They never found her body. That's it in a nutshell. So obviously we are making the school look like an old school. We scored a truck load of stuff from the 1920's last night (the decade our story takes place) including some antique school desks, games, paint, shelves, etc...I'm nervous about bodies though. Whether they're dead or alive, I really don't have the budget for 50 or more bodies at $1k each. I think I saw somewhere online a few months ago a place that had "budget" bodies....any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

Try searching for old store mannequins or maybe used the cheaper stuffed cloth bodies.

      Morriscostumes.com

Dummy, full sized, with hands, $22.50 (plus shipping) from Morris Customes.com
Search for part number: VA 236

Buy as many as you want, put clothes and a latex mask on them, and Bob's your uncle.

Phillip Morris sells lots of halloween costumes and props. He was also an old Spook Show magician in the 1950s and 1960s. (We featured him in our Spook Show trading card set.) He's a real stand up guy.

We payed $300 a piece for the "budget" bodies from Dapper Cadaver. If you can afford that plus have creative ability, you can make custom ones from those. Asylum Props has budget bodies as well for a little less than that. Again, they're not high quality as something from Ghost Ride, but with the right creative ability, can look close. The ones from Dapper, I had to trim the flashing and I used a pneumatic sprayer to base coat it in latex paint. After that, easy enough to customize. I added punched hair, eyes, etc.

The problem with putting latex on bigger props here in florida is the heat will ruin them over the summer. There isn't any way to air condition that giant warehouse! (We an stash the smaller stuff elsewhere, but the big stuff is more an issue.)
