  • Good vibes and positive waves needed for one of our own

From Cathy Vredeveld (Wife of forum member Abunai) and owners of Fright on Falcon haunted attraction in Falcon, CO. I met them at HAuNTcon in Baton Rouge in 2015 and they are really fantastic people.

So some of you have heard, and others probably haven't yet, but my husband Dave (Abunai) had a large tumor found on his left kidney. On the 22nd, they went in and removed the entire kidney. The two of them together, (kidney and tumor) were the size of a football.
Starting on Sept 1st, the day they found the tumor, his legs started feeling numb.
While in the hospital, they did an ultrasound on his legs to see if there was a blood clot. There was none. They didn't know why his legs were numb.
On the morning of the 26th, as we attempted to walk around the hospital floor, his left foot folded underneath him twice, and he lost some ability to move it more than a 'scoot' across the floor.
He was discharged, and I took him home to recover.
His walking became more and more difficult, and eventually his left leg gave up entirely.
We took him to the Dr again, Friday morning.
The Dr took another look at his CT scan from the beginning of the month, and saw a tumor on his spine.
He sent David home to await a call that day or Monday, for his first appointment with an oncologist.
He was given an appointment for Wednesday the 7th of October.
    I took him home.
That night, we decided he needed to go to the ER and we called an ambulance.
We arrived at Penrose Main sometime around midnight.
He was admitted, and the oncologist brought in a neurosurgeon.
Saturday, yesterday, he went in for emergency surgery to remove the tumor off his spine, that was compressing his spinal cord.
The surgery took 3 hours, an was as successful as it could be. They removed a bone and the part of the tumor that was possible to remove. The tumor was on his vertebrae, but of course, they couldn't remove that.
He will get radiation to deal with the leftover tumor and two others found.
When I left him last night, in the ICU, he had the same movement ability in both feet/legs as he did prior to surgery.
We are waiting to see if he regains control of his legs.
He will be having scans done today of his head and neck to see if there are any tumors there.

I'm sure they would appreciate any well wishes and letters of support. There is a GoFundMe page set up if anyone is interested in helping with medical expenses. https://www.gofundme.com/2s7tw878

Just my way of taking a break during the busy season and making Cathy do all of the work
