Any ideas on how to trigger the playing of a non-looping audio track? It must start from the beginning of the track each time...

    Any advice is good advice,

    Thanks,
    Chris

A Prop-1 and an AP8 card from www.efx-tek.com is exactly what you need.

Well, it's nice, but I'd rather not setup a PC just to trigger a single sound effect.

    Thanks though.

The prop-1 is a standalone board. You program it from a PC but after that it goes by iteself.

How long is your audio track? The 20 second sound recorders sold by RadioShack are simple to hack for this as well if you are looking for a cheaper solution to use with an existing amplifier.

Actually, when properly modified they are just fine. They use the same chip as any other chip-based recorder. You just need to run line-level right into it bypassing the mic and then take the output to an amplifier.

Personally, I now prefer the AP8 since it has an onboard amp and no mods needed.

I see. I might try out the AP8, but am I forced to also use a Prop-1. Or can I trigger with another timer?

This is really what looks most efficient to me, with no use of a PC.

Although, Radio Shack does not longer carry the recorder module...

    This might work?

    Any ideas?
