  • Just Got The 'Go-Ahead'!!!

    Hello haunters,
Well, I had posted a while ago "We Haven't Given Up...Yet"...
We didn't...and it paid off...now the big stress!
Our local fire hall said we can use there 3000 sq. ft. covered pavilion (no walls, just beams) after we met with them last night and presented our plan...
They'll get a percentage and we'll get profit!
They discussed it and called today...we're good...but.........
They're drawing up a contract (no problem with us...we suggested it),
but we can't start anything til after their gun raffle Sept. 15th and they said we can start Sept. 18th...now we'd like to open our first weekend the 12th of Oct.
We have to move it all from storage (free right now until it's moved, then we gotta find a new place!!!) And we have to be out fully by Nov. 8th (they're a little flexible she said).
But the hardest thing was they want a copy of liability insurance...we were going to go with the posted rules...and also have the front room be a rule room and get it into their minds...
Soooooooo...one stress down (location) and new ones come up...time crunch, storage, INSURANCE...
Any tips or help is appreciated...as well as prayers!

    More as it comes...

      Thanks for the 'best wishes'!
      Truly appreciated!
Just got home from work and now I'm doing the "Hello I need haunt insurance..." dance with the phone...
Most places need me to fill out an online form and email back for fastest service...no problem for me except my computer is from 1998 and I can't open their docs in my programs
Maybe a trip to my folks tonight is in the cards! Hehehe!
      It'll get done!!!

            Thanks for the help guys!
Actually, I called my local insurance (House/Auto) provider and they're working on a quote for me! Then I called my wife's uncle (ins. agent) and he said he can 'get it for me' but doesn't normally offer it. Then I called my sister-in-law's dad and he don't offer it. So I looked up in HW magazine an insurance provider and it was Inpro...they said it'd take around 3 days for a quote and I emailed in my application Monday night late...so it's a waiting game...
We plan on blazing fast pace work...a little modifications to the floor plans and pre-planning to stay ahead...

            Rush rush rush!

Just out of curiosity I wondered how much a policy might run through Inpro and how much dollar amount coverage did you all get? If anyone has gone through these guys I would appreciate it if you would share.
                  Thanks,

Cost Me $500 Premium With A Extra $150 For Terrorist Insurance. We Got A $2,000,000 Policy For That. They Say Its Roughly 15 Cents Per Person Who Goes Through Your Haunt.

Check with the fire dept. They might have insurance already on the site that you can buy a rider to cover your event. A lot cheeper if you can do this

Well, I gotta say I heard back from our insurance provider...he's faxing it in today (Friday) but said it'd be $750.00 premium base...then whatever they decide (who he's faxing to) on top of that...and we're a small haunt!!! I told him we are estimating 1,000 people (the Lion's around here would do between 800 to 2,000 depending on location/advertising they did) and we figured that was a fair number being first year and all. So that was a bummer...
And no call from Inpro yet...I emailed the form Monday night and the lady said around 3 days...so hopefully next week early?
MMManiac, you did lift my spirits (no pun intended-haha) when I read about your premium (and we don't need the terrorist insurance) so $500.00 would be great! The lady I spoke with (Robin) was real cool so I'm crossing fingers and praying a lot! Now to square up with the fire dept. tomorrow morning about exactly what day we can start hauling/building...they're having a massive gun raffle tomorrow and after that and cleanup...it's supposedly ours...but they were so busy they didn't have a chance to get with us to sign their contract...ugh!
Pyro, my wife and in-laws were pushing that route (and I'll try asking) but the fire dept. secretary said they wanted us to have our own insurance!

                        Stressed but loving it too,
                        Kirk

                          1000 people to run through?
Have you figured out what your budget is ?

Not to get down on you, but I run well over 2000 in my walk through home home, for free. It cost's me dearly.

I know you want to do this, but with your overhead I would think your are going to go backs, fast?
                          Thanks, Jeff

                            Frighteners,
As far as our budget we are okay...
If we did 2000 that would be phenomenal...not impossible, but not expecting it...
                            At $5.00 a person times 1000 people that would be $5,000.00...the Fire Dept. gets a portion...insurance costs...advertising...
We already bought the wall panels/lights/foggers/etc. from the Lion's Club 2 years ago so it's money gone and not missed...
We should make a little profit...to put into next year!
