  • Customer Reaction Shots - Spookywoods

Photos are priceless when it comes to spreading the word about your attraction. We got a good one of a lady that wet her pants, so we put Jason Masks on the group to protect the guilty in the shot. Some of the reaction shots are great word of mouth generators, your web guests will tell all their friends to check it out, thus turning them on to your attraction. It's easy to do, like putting money in the bank.

I can't stress enough how important photos are to your business. We have increased our business tremedously this season and it is due large in part to our web site with reviews and the many photos of the customers and new sets.

Check out the photos at http://www.spookywoods.com/gallery/

You know who you guys are, you put up great websites, but no photos. Customers decide where to go based on what they see on the web. Hire a professional; in most cases they can turn your boring looking set into cool photo using special effects. If your set looks amazing in normal lighting, it will blow your customers away when shot correctly.

does anyone use those camera's in your haunt that takes a pic of the guests inside your haunt getting scared and them show them on monitors outside your haunt so people can purchase the pic?

              Scare Shots

              Hi Sean,

I have yet to find anyone willing to setup such a service. There used to be a company at Transworld called Scare Shots that sold a setup, but they are gone as far as I know now.

It's a good idea, but costs are making it work is tough to do.

There was a company 2 or 3 years ago who offered to come to our haunt to set exactly this type of service up. They were completely hyped and very excited. I'm not sure what deal they had worked out with the owners, as they came towards the middle of the month and things were already busy. They...are you ready for it?...they lasted exactly one night. One. They came in, set their equipment up and took it down the same evening and never came back. Come to find out, they just couldn't deal with the cold (we were in a tent at that time) and the screams. Anyway, there weren't any hard feelings from our side...guess some people just aren't as dedicated to the haunt business. No biggie.

                    Taking pictures in Haunt

We are doing that this year at the USS Nightmare. The photograph is tied in with our photographers network on the boat, and the patrons can purchase the photo at the exit. The photos are hit and miss depending on the group, but the end results are so precious. It's funny to look at the customers reaction. The camera is set in the scene and triggers after something happens in the room.

We also have 'scare stations' set up where a patron can scare another customer while they are going through the boat and see the reaction on an infared camera. It costs 25 cents and makes a nice chunk of change. It gives patrons something to do while they wait in line.
