  • Haunt Design Program

Don't know if anyone saw this, in the lastest issue of INPARK Magazine they did a short blurb on how Universal's Halloween Horro Night uses a program called "Sketch Up" to create a complete digital walk through of all their mazes before they drive the first nail (or screw as most of us use).

I did a search and found out the program was sold to Google. They have a light version you can download for FREE. Might be a very useful tool if you find time to utilize it.

    Great Program

    Hey Rich,

We use Google Sketchup and yes, it's a great program even in it's "lite" (FREE) version. I highly recommend the tutorials to get a feel for it.

Once you've got the hang of it, it's a simple and powerful program that really lets you use your creativity.

FM and such may require more detailed architectural drawings, but this program is certainly useful in the creative stage.

I like using game level editors to build them first (like UnrealEd or something). The more "serious" design programs work good or even better, but for some reason it's more fun if you can walk around your model shooting cacodemons with a rocket launcher.
