sweatproof makeup

Hi All,

Last year there was a major problem of make-up coming off of actors' facing due to sweating, expecially the one's who we have walking around the haunt.

Does anyone know of any make-up that won't sweat off? Or how to prevent this from happening with make-up, maybe a technique of applying it or something? Thanks!

Slash, Firstly make sure your actors start with a clean face. Have them wipe it down with an astringent such as Sea Breeze. Removing dirt and skin oils will the first step, use qt there.uality make-up, not Halloween novelty Make-up. Lastly seal it with a sealor such as Ben Nye Final Seal or at least don't forget to powder. We use no color powder and apply generously. We've been having our actors apply lotion first, to combat any acne that may arise by putting make-up since most of them are teenagers. Would baby wipes work to clean the face?

So I apply the powder after putting the make up on? Is it talcum powder?

There are a couple of different options you can go with. The first would be to use a product like Sweat Stop from Michael Davy or No Sweat fro Mehron. Apply your makeup and then use Barrier Spray from Mehron.

The other option would be to use an alcohol based makeup which, while more expensive, is more impervious to sweat.

I was working with a simulated trauma event and one of the guys I was working with coated everyone in Albolene Cleansing Concentrate before he applied anything to them. It actually worked really well as it seems to make a decent base, slows the sweat a bit, and washes right off.

I like the Sweat Stop from Michael Davy but it is a bit much to use on everyone (shared applicator or cotton ball) and in combo with spirit gum makes my face puffy, (though not with pros-aid).

As for makeup you have to buy something good. I say it all the time, I like http://fxwarehouse.info/ or http://www.wolfefx.com/ There really is no substitute for theatrical makeup in an event like a Haunt. We do WAY more in worse conditions than most theater people....
