  • Show Control Demystified

Hello all. I'm going to be doing a series on how to control things on my blog and I thought it might be helpful to you guys/gals/ghouls. Some of the articles will be really simple and some of them might get pretty involved. The first one is up already and the next one will be posted tomorrow. Check it out, and if you have any ideas for topics please let me know.

Hi Scott looks like much of what your doing is very similar to some of my early stuff, I wrote some free 7.1 surround sound encoding software 3 year ago thats still available at my website http://www.mordor.plus.com/Audio.html

If you look deeper on my website you will find my first attempt at a interactive show control system (Excel control), which is still available free, but I am no longer actively developing

Since then I developed the SkullTroniX Exorcist haunt control system... which is a much more sophisticated version that can control Animatronics, sound, lights and video files.

      Scott,

Loved the Waterworld slides, very interesting!

Makes me feel a little better about stuff I’ve cobbled together in the past. lol

Phoenix: Sounds like you're working on some fun stuff. I'm going to have to try out your 7.1 encoder (I'm feeling a little inadequate with 5.1 now )

Monster-Tronics: I was a little surprised at some of the stuff they were using in that installation. It makes me feel like the gap between the stuff only the big boys get to play with and things everybody can do is closing. I like it.

          A Brand New Show Controller

Take a look at www.teletriggers.com. There's a brand new product for fast and easy show control.

If you were going to spend $500 on a simple video trigger Id have to ask why not buy Exorcist at $300 and control your entire haunt.

You can use the Teletrigger system as a stand alone triggered media player by simply hooking up the optional PIR motion sensor. Additionally you can use a maestro or other type of controller would be to add a prop that you wanted triggered in time with the media player. This year we are installing a video cowboy zombie projected on a scrim and when triggered he will stand up from his chair raise his shotgun and shoot the patrons at the same instant as air blaster will shoot them. We have used the Teletrigger system combined with an animation maestro to run the show. The maestro triggers both the media player and the corresponding air blaster. As far as coding goes, at least on the Teletrigger side, it is as simple as naming the media files 000.mpg,001.mpg and so on and then putting them on a high speed flash card.
