We are producing a DVD based off of the class and will be filming more design techniques to add as well, I don't have a release date at this point but will keep everyone informed of the progress. The DVD will be several hours long showcasing MANY design tips and applications.

First -the work is amazing -I make all of my guys watch the demo from Bad Boys on one of the Hauntword DVD's just to see what can be done -
Do you seal the foam after you get everything done to make it stronger

Thanks for the comments on the photos and our DVD.

We do not coat the foam with anything, we stopped using the acetone on the foam for safety reasons and found a new technique that actually makes the foam stronger!

After we are finished carving and distressing the foam we take a heat gun and holding it about 2 inches away from the foam slowly go back and forth over it. This does the same trick as the acetone but creates a shell, we have punched the foam on the walls and it has also stood up to a seasons worth of abuse! After the heat gun trick we paint everything with fire retardant treated latex for a base coat and continue to sponge on our lighter highlights with latex that has been treated with fire retardant as well.

We will be teaching another design Seminar at Hauntcon in Milwaukee, Wi.

I have been speaking with some friends and designers in the Industry and we will be creating a full scene this time around! All four walls and a ceiling, as we get closer we will have a list of scene ideas and let everyone vote on the theme they would like to see created. In the meantime, we will be filming and editing the rest of the Scenic Design DVD, I will announce the release date when we have one. The video will be approximately 6 hours long and packed with information!
