    New Original Series on History™
    SURVIVING HISTORY
    Sundays at 10pm ET/PT starting June 15

NEW YORK, JUNE 12, 2008 – History™ launches a new weekly series that brings history’s most famous inventions back to life – back from the Middle Ages, from Ancient Roman and Greek history, from China and India and beyond. Each week the SURVIVING HISTORY team of thrill-seeking history buffs experiment with some of history’s most amazing inventions – trying out each one themselves.

The multi-talented team of master craftsmen from The Scarefactory in Columbus, Ohio, rebuilds elements from the past in an effort to better understand history. They survey the past to experience the most inventive devices and technologies ever created. Using a variety of skills (welding, design, carpentry),The new series SURVIVING HISTORY airs Sundays at 10pm ET/PT on History, starting June 15.

Through this process of re-creating and testing ancient inventions, history comes to life and is illuminated anew in an incredibly personal and compelling journey. Ever wonder what it would feel like to be under the blade of the Halifax Gibbet, or inside an Iron Maiden during the Spanish Inquisition? What would it be like to shoot rocket-propelled Fire Arrows in ancient China? In each episode, the team investigates a different period in history, picks out five of the most ingenious devices, practices or weapons of war from that time period, and studies the history of how and why they were developed.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #1 (June 15)
In the series premiere, the Scarefactory’s trek through history guides them to the macabre world of the Middle Ages. Chad explores the heinous mythology of one of the most infamous devices ever conceived, the Iron Maiden. Kermit brings his fabricating ingenuity to a lesser-known tool of medieval punishment, the Iron Boot, while Josh breaks away from the group to investigate ancient China’s early use of gunpowder with rocket-propelled Fire Arrows.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #2 (June 22)
The guys at The Scarefactory explore a variety of military tactics spanning the last 2,000 years. Chad, an Army veteran who recently finished a tour of duty in Iraq, examines technological breakthroughs in missile launching stratagems dating back to ancient Rome. Kermit navigates into the 17th century to study the disciplinary measures of the British Navy with the Cat o’ Nine Tails, while Rob tackles a 20th century human-knotting experiment implemented during the Vietnam War known as the Pretzel.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #3 (June 29)
Josh and Brian collaborate to investigate the legend surrounding an ancient spear thrower said to have the ability to pierce armor. Kermit rebuilds the Branks, a muzzling apparatus implemented for seventeenth century marriage counseling, while DJ takes on the task of building the Brazen Bull, a diabolical device used for execution in ancient Greece. Finally, the citizens of Columbus, Ohio, are enlisted to exercise the mob mentality theory with the Pillory.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #4 (July 6)
The guys at The Scarefactory are focusing on the effects of harsh punishment and hard labor with an array of international ingenuities. Edge devises a whipping apparatus for the Bastinado, a simple yet effective Indian practice. Dusty and Josh collaborate to understand how the wheel was re-invented as a method of execution, while Chad and Eric explore the hardships of English prison life with the Treadmill.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #5 (July 13)
The Scarefactory guys delve into a particularly dark period of human history – The Spanish Inquisition. The team tackles their most ambitious project yet, a twenty-foot-tall pendulum straight out of the Edgar Allan Poe tale, “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Dusty fabricates the Judas Cradle, while DJ studies one of the many Inquisition methods.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #6 (July 20)
The team attempts to understand history through the eyes of the condemned. Edge and Chad lead the builds of two historic capital punishment devices, the Catalan Garrote and the Gallows, while Trevor commits to a sentence of solitary confinement.

    SURVIVING HISTORY: #7 (July 27)
The team at The Scarefactory ventures back in time to experience some of history’s most ingenious inventions. DJ and Chad recreate the Strappado while Kermit fabricates the Shame Flute, a trophy bestowed upon traveling musicians lacking talent. DJ explores the legend surrounding the Chastity Belt. Josh not only builds the ancient semi-automatic Chinese Repeating Crossbow, but coordinates the ultimate feudal war game, the Joust.

So is this recreating things from the past I take it.? Or are they collaberating them into actual animatronics they will sell in the future? When was all this filmed and if Scarefactory has had so many problems with shipping and making orders how do they find time to do this? Just makes me wonder? Not trying to start anything Im just wondering about a few things. I do want to see the shows though.
