  • Dancing Ghost at Haunted Mansion

Can anyone tell me how they make the ghost dance at the Disney World Haunted Mansion? Is it by projector? If so how do they get deminsions to it.

    Thanks

Do you have a video of this? Having NEVER been to a Disney park, but seeing ALOT of documenteries about it, I may be able to help. I'm instantly thinking its a "peppers ghost" illusion... but I could be wrong. -Tyler

It was too structure to be peppers ghost - it had to be something else.

it is infact peppers ghost. The actual ghosts reside below the track system, while the ballroom remains an empty room.

What about the floating candleabra? Is it like a peppers ghost with it on a string or something else? Its in a long hallway I was just wondering. The candleabra isnt transparent so is it on fishing string or on an arm with a motor say behind it?
I always thought that was cool looking.

The foating candelabra is attached via wires to a patented FCG style of mechanism.

                  Ok..

Yes it is pepper's ghost illusion...the Pepper's Ghost illusion is simply that - an illusion developed by the Magician Pepper (I forget his full name)...the HM ghosts are mannequins (which is why they are rigid), and they are on rotating platforms (i.e. making them dance), with a variable brightness light shining on them causing a reflection in glass (which is what you see ultimately from your doombuggy)..They are UNDER and ABOVE the track you ride on out of direct sight...the floating candles are simply attached to monofilament line suspended from a flying crank ghost mechanism in front of large mirrors to provide the illusion that the hall is longer than it actually is. Really cool concepts brought to life, yet so very simple.

                      Thanks

Thanks for the info. I thought it had to be a projector but peppers ghost is really impressive. Do a lot of haunted houses use peppers ghost?

The best use of Pepper's Ghost effects that I have ever seen at a haunted attraction was at Turbitidite Manor. Amazing work!!!
