Storage and climate control

How important is it to have your props stored in a climate controlled space? (for the midwest)

Are you referring to latex props? Coz many props, like hard foam, seem to do fine if they are out of the sun and rain. Down here in Florida, the heat is very hard on the latex masks and standing props, even if it is stashed in the dark. It does better if washed and dusted in talcum, then stashed in a cool dry place.

Im pretty much thinking of everything. I guess most people have a climate controlled area then for some of their stuff at least?
