  • Columbia Haunt Tour Official Announcement

The decision has been made and our tour IS going to happen for the show in March. Full details will follow soon. It seems that we might have some issues with putting on this tour. A representative from IAHA contacted me and told me that Transworld will not support our tour in anyway, that they will not promote us on their website and that they won't even allow our buses to pick up at the convention center. I personally can not believe that transworld would say that. I was under the asumption that transworld was for us, the haunters. Based on the messages on this board and the emails I have received, there are a lot of haunters out there who want to go on our tour. I plan to contact transworld myself and see if what IAHA said is true. I really hope not, that would not look good for transworld. Again, full details of the tour to follow. Stay tuned!

Let me guess who told you that... nah not worth the trouble. The fact is IAHA does not speak for Transworld and to my knowledge never has. I have put an email into Transworld asking them point blank if they told someone that you won't be allowed to have your guests picked up and dropped off, if they won't support your show, if they will in fact tell their buyers to jump in a lake they will not offer you support.

      I DOUBT THIS IS TRUE!

Transworld has shown themselves to be very supportive, and because of Ben Armstrong we will have a great seminar series at the show, and HHA will have its first ever meeting, and The Darkness will open its doors to the industry, and your tour will just cap everything off. I understand as well as anyone this is America and I have no issues with IAHA holding its own functions and have said many times in the past that those who choose to attend those events good for them. But those who choose to attend your tour, or the Darkness tour, or for those who choose to go to a casino across the street from the convention center, or just go back to their hotel and get some rest, or have meetings with vendors. All of these things will happen what someone does or doesn't do is up to the person and no one else.

I choose to attend this tour, I will attend this tour! I'm sure most people will attend this tour, because HAUNT OWNERS want to see haunted houses, however if someone wants to do the IAHA event they are welcome to do that... I'm sure in the end Transworld will not take sides on any of this as that is not their role.

Transworld I'm sure will support their buyers and their vendors on equal terms. Don't listen to anyone who said that to you I'm sure its totally fabricated. I must say I'm a little shocked that someone would tell you these things, its totally out of line and totally unprofessional!

Let people do what they want and leave it at that. To each their own!

On another note... congratulations I know I've personally told you how tough this will be but this is what you want to do then who are we to say we will not support you! Hauntworld will fully support your tour and we will donate a free full page ad to your tour no doubt.

Both of you guys have supported our site, and subscribe to our magazine and we thank you both! We owe you! Again thanks for trying to do what you can for the industry by opening your doors.

        I look forward to it!

Good luck!!! As I said in the other thread, I would suggest getting an on line ticket service, figure out what you need to break even, set a cut off date. IF you do not get enough committed, cancel the tour and you lose nothing. Do not state that you will have any on site tickets or tickets sold after the cut off date. (You always have someone hang on till the last moment).

If you reach your goal by the cut off date, then you can continue ticket sales..BUT I would charge at least $10 a ticket more! People need an incentive to purchase before the dead line. YOU need to know if you will have enough to warrant the time and expense.

          Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Just a clarification: I spoke with transworld directly and they will promote our tour the best that they can considering the last minute nature of the event. So everything is a go, full details coming soon!

Glad to hear that Transworld is supporting your decision, and promoting your tour. Hopefully buses will be available for those of us who are flying in.

We can't wait to take the tour!

OK, here are the details for the Columbia Haunt Tour:

The tour will be on Friday, March 27, 2009. You will have the option for bus transportation or to drive yourself. The buses will load at approximately 7pm. Food will be provided on the bus trip. We are also working on having a speaker on each bus (rolling seminar anyone?). Half of the buses will go to FearFest first and then Necropolis, the other half will do the opposite. The price for the entire package (both haunts, bus tranportation, food, industry speaker, etc.) is $65 per person. The price for just the haunts is $35. A new website will be up very soon where you can purchase your tickets. This tour is being sponsored by HHA (hauntedhouseassociation.org) and Rogue's Hollow (rogueshollow.com). Feel free to visit our haunt websites at:

Yes we are going to have a website for this tour. It is under construction right now. You will be able to purchase tickets on that site. Hauntworld is also a sponsor and Click n print is to I believe.
