Well, my agency I work at did a huge marketing session on this same topic.

I'm not going to bore you with numbers, demos etc.

But the final thoughts is, Facebook is growing, yes, but Facebook is also more of a personal site. Not great for businesses. Many of the businesses on there, don't get the same results as advertising on myspace.

Its more of a fan presence and a company presence where people become fans and those really involved with Facebook follow it. Now if you are going personal. A personal page works there.

Myspace, is more of an advertising avenue to get serious results to a mass market. One, people can look at your myspace without having to join, and the global appeal, etc etc etc.

    Okay, I won't bore you,

    But I have both.

      I also have both:

      http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...32119&ref=name

According to my stats, Myspace still gives me more than twice the referrals as facebook. As Jonathan said, perhaps that has something to do with the fact that the general public can see my Myspace profile and people who want to see the Facebook one have to join Facebook and add me as a friend.

I definately prefer myspace... As far as VISUALLY giving people something to look at it is far superior. Facebook is just the plain old white and blue page... nothing fancy. Myspace is Huge for me.... make a good appealing page, post lots of bulletins and coupons during the season, and trust me it works! Check out our myspace page at:

I have both, but I do prefer Myspace because of the customization (although some people tend to go overboard with the glitter and a ton of slideshows) and the fact that anyone can see my profile, not just my friends. Facebook works better for tracking down old classmates than for self-promotion.

              Were the People Are

I work with high school students in my community as well as at a college. The college age group prefers Facebook and we are seeing a large increase in Facebook since they allowed non-college affiliated people to join. People prefer facebook because it allows less ad and more friend information. Myspace is still hot with the younger crowd 12 - 17 and allows for alot more ads. Both Facebook and Myspace have copied each other with certain features. Having a group page or Fan page on Facebook can help but it is not a guarantee for success as people join these for any reason and do not regukarly check these pages.

Also, know on Facebook you have to be a real person as they delete organziation, companies, and school pages while Myspace lets you use pages for this. I know of school that had their mascot have a page on Facebook and it was deleted.

I wasn't aware that Facebook was deleting accounts for groups and organizations. I have seen a lot of paranormal groups and haunted attractions that have had Facebook pages for a long time and they haven't been deleted.
