Facebook for sure, although I still have both, I rarely check my Myspace anymore.
Larry, I told you this when you posted about your updated Myspace profile.
So purely from a user standpoint, I prefer Facebook.
The headline that Facebook has beaten Myspace in traffic isn't totally relevant to haunt owners if you're using them to market your attractions. In reality, Facebook leads in global traffic, but here in the US, Myspace still has more traffic, for the short term though it appears.
Both are good tools, and heck they're essentially free marketing, another exposure, why not have both.
Maybe I prefer Facebook since I don't have to worry about what my page layout looks like, or how many glittery comments I have on it, or what music I should play etc etc etc
Facebook is a nice clean user interface, simple, and addictive once you use it (although I think my use has tapered off a bit, which is probably a good thing). Above all, I have reconnected with 20 times more people that I had lost touch with on Facebook than I did on Myspace. Some of them I had missed, and unfortunately some that I had enjoyed forgetting about, until now
Well, believe it or not... myspace STILL has the most users/members, BUT, Facebook is growing FASTER everyday! Why? Ease of use!
The only advantage to a Myspace is that it allows you to customize your page... Facebook you cannot; your stuck with the plain old white/blue facebook page just like everything else, no sense of originality!
Which one looks more appealing? That's if your judging on design/layout/appearence alone.
Also, a benefit of Facebook is it's popularity to college aged kids... this allows you to easily target your audience! Also, facebook advertising is EXTREMELY easier than Myspace advertising... and I believe more cost effective!
Your myspace can be vital if used correctly... Myspace gives you options to play music or not... or display comments or not! Our profile, everything on there was done in house (graphics, music, etc. etc.) and was layed out by Redcrow Designs! In the future, on our profile you'll be able to leave us a comment, but they won't be publically displayed!
This is a very put together myspace page! But you can see, this would come in very handy and become a vital part of your marketing!
Facebook is good... yes... but it all lacks personality! It's like being polar bear amungst a snow storm! Myspace allows you to stand out in the crowd! -Tyler
Being that we're on the subject of MySpace, does anyone have experience with any computer friend adder software? Preferably something that doesn't run upwards of $300.
You really need a lot of time to hand add large quantities of people.
I'm using Eek Adder, www.eekrecords.com It's easy to use, but I'm not familiar with all the others so you can toss it in to sites to check out and compare.
I realize the potential for social/viral marketing on both of these systems, I think we were probably one of the first on the Myspace train long ago, as evidenced by the amount of friends on our Myspace.
What I was commenting on is mainly Facebook vs. Myspace, from a pure personal preference standpoint. Which I think may have been what Larry's question was about in part, seeing as he just recently started using his Myspace.
Jordan, be very careful with any of the friend adder programs, Myspace is wise to these, if they find out you are using one, your profile will be cancelled.
As it appears, Facebook will likely surpass Myspace in traffic in the US before long, and as I said above, use both of them.
Unlike others on here who have had success with their Myspace marketing, the response rate we have gotten on our promotions has been marginal. But I see it as another exposure, they see your profile on Myspace, then see an ad elsewhere, then hear about you from a friend - rule of 3, hopefully will equate to ticket sale.
Chris is right, we had our Myspace page deleted last year after reaching just above 25,000 Myspace Friends, most residing within 100 miles of the haunt zip code. Ouch!

PS. I forgot to mention, we were staying within the suggested 300 Friend requests per day at the time too! I only really have time now to send Friend Requests once a week and I try to stay under 250 requests when I do send them now. I do make sure to post a message to any Myspace Friends who add us thanking them and I include our web banner. I also send out a Birthday message one day a week to all the Myspace Friends having a Birthday in the upcoming week. This is VERY time consuming but VERY effective!
I much prefer my myspace. I have a facebook but am on it about one every 3 months. Its so plain and i do not like logging on and seeing what everyone else is talking about or thinking or what pictures they are posting. I do not like how difficult things are to find on facebook either. And it just seems more complicated to use. Pictures are easier to post also.
From a marketing standpoint, myspace is the way to go also.

“Happiness is the sublime moment when you step out of your corset at the end of the night.”
“Actors love mental disorders, dialects, and corsets. Give them one of the three and they're happy.”
Because I seemed to be seeing in that fine print you are supposed to read before you click "Join" that they reserved some right to sell you and bill you for trinkets and toys that they will say you need to maintain your site with them.
Or am I wrong?
Personally I have both...I use the myspace for the haunt and facebook for personal contact (family/friends)...
I don't care for facebook much...too plain...I log on about twice a week to it.
Myspace I check daily (sometimes multiple times).
Honestly i think Facebook myself. Just because it IS plain and simple. Theres no need to get all these flashy graphics and badass music. Its just plain old hey look they can scare us advertisement. And iv never been very technologically savvy and i find myspace confuzing.
I feel like myspace attracts a younger crowd (middle school aged kids for example) where as facebook is used more by high school aged kids to adults. Either way, having both certainly can't hurt.
