  • Did You know.....

I found out that there is a group for Darkride and Funhouse Enthusiasts called DAFE (url: http://www.dafe.org/ )

They tour the country checking out adrkrides coaster and some even check out haunts....

Sounds like something Larry may get into and do some crosspromotion....
(shameless hint, hint - nudge - wink)

Reminds me of the group of very elderly people, a whole big bus load, who showed up here one time.
They had on little flimsey Halloween costumes, were walking with canes and walkers, they were fairly feeble people, yet they were Halloween enthusiasts, applauding and cheering at the end of each of my short routines!
        Groupies!!!
Goes to show you, you just never know?
        It was great!

I LOVE that story Jim! I sometimes wish I could get inside your head to be able to share some of your memories... then again, I might be twice as twisted!

Dan Faupel is very involved in DAFE and has wrote some articles for their newsletter. Good group of people.

Dafe has done some things like remodeling an old attraction so it could continue to be seen and enjoyed.

              There is also http://www.laffinthedark.com/

Between the both sites quite a few great articles. I know these attractions sparked an intrest in me as a kid that has lead to the haunted house of today.

Another fabulous post from the U.S.Department of Wild Imaginings, now in spectaclar stereo, sponsored by the Adhesives and Sealants Council, suggesting ways to stick things together since the 1800s. Not fabulous in a gay way. Your results may vary. Illinois residents add 8% sales tax. Lot of good information. I did some major research with them during a possible legal battle.
The word for the day is NPD. Check it out.

                  Hey Joe Dog

DAFE is a great group to belong to. I have been a member since 2001. One thing I find surprising are the number of Halloween people who seem to be obliviuos when it comes to Dark rides. You would think anyone into Halloween/Haunted Houses would realize the connection with dark rides, but a lot of people do not!

Again , thanks for bringing the site up!

I'm not surprised at all that many haunters don't feel there is a connection or similarity between dark rides and their haunted house. Just look at all the extremely different ways to run a haunted house as far as theme, procedures for routing and handling customers and style of a show that can happen.
Who actually defines us? Hollywood movies or more so the basic human fears within us ?
Maybe the basic human need to be stimulated and entertained?
                    Nobody likes to be bored........
