Let's see?
I walk out my front door, get in my car, start the engine, turn it off, walk back in the house, that must be about 2 minutes?
Or I can stand in my house , turn the door knob, take a step and I'm there, no road rage, no octane consumption.
Living in one's own haunt has disctinct advantages and disadvantages.
The disadvantage is never really getting away from feeling like you should be working all the time(which I have done alot of over the years)
Another negative aspect can be the drunken idiots pounding on the side of your house at 4:30 am, waking you up , of course living here also helps me to be more able to protect my investment here, especially since this house is in a lonely location.

I have commuted up to 90 minutes. It can be a very long ways at 2am after a long day of making people scream. That said, I wouldn't turn down a great location just because of a long commute, but keep in mind that there are only so many hours in a day. Time spent on the commute has to either come from time spent at the haunt or sleep. A delicate balance indeed.
