I remember seeing photos from IAAPA years ago with this company, boasting the "new" horror-icon themed haunt.

I say, no one is in the wrong. ICC doesn't OWN the characters, they'd be licensing them out just like Universal had too... If ICC wins, or won, this case... then Disney could sue EVERY haunted mansion themed attraction!

I think the 2007 season of HHN was the worst year they've had though... it may be just me but movie monsters in haunts in just tacky. That year, Universal Orlando showed the biggest LACK of creativity I've ever seen! Bringing the horror movie characters and re-using an old original icon... boring!

    Just my thoughts. -Tyler

Well Tyler, if you weren't happy about that, how happy are you about their Jigsaw themed event this year?

In my opinion, they're going after everyone, why not Universal with their big deep pockets.

The real fault probably lies with New Line, to the extent that they had an exclusive licensing agreement.

We'll see...but I promise you one thing, the lawyers will be winning big on this one

        Chris,

Sorry I didn't see your post. I got an email about this and just posted it up here... I think those guys are the Rays, but I'm not sure. A few years ago they licensed those icons from New Line, took a booth from IAAPA and tried to sell them off as haunted houses. I don't think they sold any because in my opinion they were asking way too much money.

I am guessing here but I think they lost their licenese and Universal did a haunt like they always do in Orlando with icon movie monsters and now these guys are trying to sue.

This will be a very expensive lawsuits because Universal has their own inhouse lawfirms, so they can just fight it for 10 years if they want to.

        So we'll see what happens!

I guess what I'm saying is that New Line has every right to sell out licenses, as many as they want. I really don't think ICC had the pockets for an EXCLUSIVE license on the characters... that's like buying them out right!

I think Universal was in the right here... they paid for the usage and used them. I'm just saying that personally, I hate movie characters in haunts, I think it's tacky.

But none-the-less... Universal done everything right and ICC shouldn't have any arguement here. Again, I don't think ICC had the pocket book for an exclusive license on all three of these characters... my guess... that would have been SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS... (which is probably why the haunts were so expensive)... anything "exclusive" is PRICEY!!!

My bet, Universal will win this case. -Tyler
