Do as you wish.... but, I have never had good luck with cheap airbrushes.

I wouldnt expect much from 21.00 airbrushes.... nothings worse than a P.O.S. not working when you really need it to.... purchase a Pasche, or Badger.... They will work when you need them to as long as you take care of them.... AND you can pick up even a double action for around 60-70 bucks

( Most of the time 99.9% you get what you pay for )

I hear ya Malicious. Because I'm just getting the system to play around and try and learn, I figured this is worth a shot. As I develop my airbrush skills, I'll probably want to advance to a more sophisticated tool. Unless of course this ends up working just great. I belive our airbrush artist at Raycliff Manor has been using one of these and he hasn't had any trouble. I'd have to confirm this is the same one he's been using though.

I'm curious, has anyone used this type of airbrush before and what was your experience?

yeah... if you do find that these airbrushes work well for you let me know. I love to have cheaper ones that I can let the help use.... I am very partial to my good airbrushes and I dont like to let anyone else use them so I am usually the one that does it all....LMFAO, these cheaper ones are the cats ass.... hell 21.00 a piece ....LMFAO, I can afford to lose one every once in a while.

What do you use them for make up or ??? Latex paint and clear is what I spray the most....

Have had bad luck with harbor freight airbrushes, we bought one to try, if you're planning on using with makeup, don't do it. If you're running a thin paint through it you'll probably be fine, but makeup, you're asking for problems.

Sounding like a broken record here, buy Iwata, end of story. Even if you're learning, it will make life so much easier. If you can't learn (which I think you will with an Iwata), sell it on ebay for nearly as much as you paid for it new.

I have not tried a Badger, have tried Paasche, they're ok, but Iwata much better.

Two things kill an airbrush. Cheap needle materials that can corrode and stick, requiring surgery and ultimately not working like it did. The second thing is dropping it on the ground and it nose dives on the ground wrappin the needle and cap around to be rendered useless.

I started out with Paasche and ended up with several and then buying extra tips and needles, even suping one up with $100 worth of little groovy accessories and kept switching needles and caps with production. Not price wise a big deal but availability is a big deal to have them in stock for use in odd hours when you can't get to a store.

So Paasche probably got $500 worth of my money when I was doing lots of airbrushing. Then I got an Iwata gravity feed and it might have cost $270 but I have used it exclusively for 10 years and never had to replace anything.

Also with gravity feed you turn it upside down and pour out the color you no longer need, flush it with something and put the new color in. You never have an airbrush sitting there with some medium drying in the tip and needle, you don't need a manifold, you don't need multiple hangers there are no tenticales to get caught up in and dump the whole system on the floor.

For a fancy holder? Drill a 1/2 inch hole in the leg of the table or counter and stick it in backwards.

Of all the fancy stuff I never had that I wish I did was a quick disconnect at the air brush.

Having multiple guns and an inventory of billions of little parts implies ou have to have a tol box organizer and carry all of this stuff with you everywhere. One brush and a small box of paint in comparison and it is have air brush will travel.

Instead of all these extra things, it is best to buy some ind of pnuematic tool regulator so you can more locally keep the air pressure low while a regular sized air compressor feeds you air. Even though most shops I go to have a regulator, I bring my own so there are no surpises as to what they think they have it set at right now. Oh, sorry it blew all your little seals up, we last ran a nail gun, and thought it was the spray gun last?

For a while I was buying everyone's failed air brush attempts and cleaning out the paint they couldn't figure out how to clean out of them. At some point it dawned on me I didn't need all of these extra air brushes.

Lets see, I have two big air compressors and only use one, I have a little 110 v air compressor that cost $140 I never have used more than 10 minutes, for a while I thought it would be usefull at the sink to clean out air brushes but ran lines all over the place. By time I do come up with a use for it, it will probably be crap.

I probably spent $1000 too much because I was too poor or a little ahead of my time when Iwatas were readily available to just buy an Iwata. Which incidentally DO have resale value of as much as you spent for one because they last for ever and have limited production.

You have to look at all the pretty pictures in the airbrush magazines like they are propaganda. The artists are sponsored by the equipment and use this to do that so you will buy it. Because some one sells it. Yes, that harbor frieght picture is like air brush porn but, it is totally un neccessary.

If you are just trying it out to see if your hands work get one for $9.99 from hobby lobby a cambell housefeild plastic body double action air brush. If you can move your hand right give that one to a 12 year old kind and buy an Iwata.

In actually be productive fo hours with an air brush, you end up tearing it apart cleaning everthing and putting it back together as a matter of fact like being a soldier and your rifle needs torn apart and cleaned, put back together. Cheaper materials get screwed up in this tear down, cleaning and putting back together. Needles get bent and warped, the needle seats get little burrs on them that have to be filed out.

Not so with the good materials of the Iwata. Same airbrush has made thousands of dollars over the last 15 years. For a while it was to the tune of $8,000 per year from one airbrush. The output quality is also unmatched by a cheap airbrush where they are not a matched needle and seat and given the blessing of a Tiwanees Master. So, in comparison to anyone else's work or attempts, you are someone because of the superior equipment.
