I think alot of people who have experienced a ghost or something like what you described are affraid to admit it. They are affraid of what others may think. Oh they are crazy or whatever.

The eyes are glazed over, head unmoving, focusing upon Your place!
The person saying this can be any age. The younger, the more likely it might happen and they will get no noticable punishment, just "therapy" for a year or two.
Burn it down because , "There ghosts in there, or satan lives there!"
This "works" for them!
