What do you good people of HauntWorld think is the best way to hard coat styrofoam walls? [and for the record, that's where we came up with the silly name BarbieHaunt - it's just our private joke name for the haunt while it's being built because it reminded us of a Barbie Dream Haunt with its pink styrofoam walls before they are hard coated and painted]. Thanks in advance for any help you are willing to give us.

Actually, as explained previously in a thread we started, the silly name BarbieHaunt has absolutely nothing to do with Barbie dolls but was our private joke name because before the haunt's pink and blue styrofoam walls are hard coated and painted, it reminds us of a Barbie Dream Haunt.Tags: None

As the recommendations come in, I'd like to add a few questions.
1) Is there different recommendations for indoor vs outdoor?
2) Is there different recommendations for things audiences will likely come into contact with vs stuff they won't?sigpic
There are three rules to designing a haunt. Unfortunately, nobody knows what they are.

It really depends on what HauntedMemphis was saying. Big outdoor facade? Probably worth investing in one of the systems like the Qwik Spray System or the one from Industrial Polymers. Something inside that customers may come in contact with? Probably either one of the mentioned systems or even a stucco or cement material. A display thats set back and won't get much abuse? You could even get away with the hard coating material from the Hot Wire Foam Factory, which hardens the foam and keeps it from chipping off. It can take some abuse but I wouldn't push your luck with a whole seasons worth. So I guess it really depends on what your looking to do with it. And be sure to check out that other thread, it should point you in the right direction.Mike Quill

This stuff is great it will totally water proof your styrofoam and anything else. It is great to use on headstone. You can get it at any lumber or hardware store. I buy it in 1 gallon cans they might sell it in 5 gallon buckets but I am not sure. The product is called Drylok. It is used to coat basement walls to prevent water damage. You paint this on. It workd great!!

Inspiring, thank you. I'd really love to visit your haunt if I have the time this October.
