  • How to make this go public

Hey, For our garage haunt "The Forsaken Crypt" we are hosting charity for Roswell Cancer Institute. I guess they said they would help promote us a bit but unfortunatly our haunt wont be on Halloween so we need to advertise more. What are some good methods that dont cost much but really spread the word. Any tips and ideas would be greatly appriciated

You need to post flyers around at local hang outs and go to the schools, find people to make announcements in the district that tells the students about the charity event. Schools like safe events that benefit a good cause.

If you have high school actors, let them promote through word of mouth and hand sized coupons/flyers.

Library, police department, fire department, local businesses, any place really, just push the charity card and the "it's a fun safe thing to do with your family". You may find some new volunteers in the process.

I know you just have a garage haunt but, hey, any haunt is good enough to join the WNY Haunters List. I have been trying for a month now to get any and all people associated with haunts in Erie county to get together in this group so we could do some big things together. I for one am probably the most eager to help you out dude. Talk to me on the list and we could talk as much as you want about promotions and the like.

Actually you would be suprised to find how badly fliers alone fail EPICALLY in a school type environment, you need a grass roots campaign, fliers, coupons and posters.

Just signed up for the list man and I did make a facebook and it is constantly showing updates, We are working on a myspace. We will most likely be on the local news so that should help. I was going to put them EVERYWHERE around town. Maybe make a poster or 2. Definatly hand out coupons. I was even considering T-shirts for the crew to wear round

I could actually help you out with this and in turn you could probably help me. I know a bunch of places in Allentown that would get us amazing draws and we have access through friends to ECC, UB, Hamburg, Frontier, Lancaster, Clarence, Eden and Lackawana. I also have a direct contact to WGRZ.

My experience with school fliers has worked well, but fliers can't be the only avenue you pursue, local media, and public departments love to hear the charity word. Remember to find out what you need to do to make a school announcement over the district, not just one school.

Lots of haunts have partnered with groups like high school sports teams, band, etc. to sell tickets. You give them a block of tickets and they get a dollar for each one they sell. It cuts into the total amount you make but will likely get you more customers than you could have without the program. It's the "better a little bit of a lot than all of nothing" theory.

Yes but this is free so no point in selling tickets.. Yeah I'll post stuff all around town, Local shops, Bars, street corners, Also in some shops that agree I will leave a holder of small info coupons on the counter. ALso our local news will most likely get to us so I feel this will all work out. Also the front yard needs to be very eye catching

Then how is the charity profiting? Are you accepting donations?
