Hi Haunters,
We started to a new concept in 2008 for our waiting area to boost retail sales and add value with add on attractions. I have made a progress page located at http://www.spookywoods.com/hauntedmidway.htm with lots of photos. Check it out for ideas for your own haunt.
We now have a state of the art ticket booth using Clear Cut POS for our onsite and online sales. Our customer now can experience the themed queue lines, movie screen, glow shop, T-Shirt Shop, ATM, The Last Ride, DJ booth above the crowd, Bavarian Nut Shop, and we are in the setup phase of our newest shop Morbid Couriosity. This newest shop will be separate ticket for up to 8 people at a time. This idea came to me from Ghost & Legends at Myrtle Beach.
Our retail sales were tremendous last year and the concept proved to be very successful. The add on attractions should be considered a word of mouth generator, however even with slow throughput the last ride paid for itself in one year. We are adding shot glasses, beer mugs, and tongs to our inventory due to customer requests! I would have never dreamed I would be selling tongs when I started Spookywoods in 1985! LOL
Here is a view from the DJ booth before opening night last year.
