  • Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 Official Trailer

So over the Weekend I got an email from the studios, so thought I would share. Enjoy or in my case Do Not enjoy. You cannot replace Robert. In fact, I told him that while doing an interview for RFR.

Did Robert refuse to do this one, or did they not ask him? I dont know if I can get used to a new face and voice! Looks good aside from that. I like how the remakes sometimes add pieces of the backstory. I cant say I cant wait to see it, but I am definatley curious!

Robert told me he was not asked.

Although back in 2007 he did mention he would like to do a backstory.

Prob I have with new one is A. Robert will always be Freddy. B. it almost makes it like Freddy is innocent and is getting revenge that way C. I don't care for the more realistic look to his burns.

IF you search my site for nightmare on elm or rfr rewind there is an interview posted with robert from 2007 and we talked about a remake back then.

But all in all I think Myers, sure, Jason eh okay, Leatherface sure why not. But you do not touch it when the actors are the main roles i.e. Doug Bradley, Robert Englund etc.

And this just continues the trend coming of Remakes of Child's Play, Children of the Corn Redux was on TV this weekend, and then millions of non horror remakes. UGH. Hell they are remaking Highlander now.

        NOES Trailer

I love the idea of the back story. I love the idea of learning the beginning of something that I grew up with. So on that point I am excited to see the movie. However, unless they make the main character very young to explain the difference in look then it will not be the same without Robert. I agree that somethings just can not be redone with out ruining the affect. These movies were a staple in my youth. For me, I enjoy more the suspense then the gore. Now movies just try to outdo each other by how much gore can they do and better then the last. Nothing is more scary to me then messing with one's mind then squirting blood out of my toenails.

From the way I understood it... Robert was asked, and he said he would NOT do a remake... only a sequal. Seeing as the studio wanted a remake, they had to recast.

I'm very excited to see this... I don't think they could've cast Freddy with a better actor. The visuals look awesome, the throwbacks to the originals are great... overall, I'm very excited to see this. -Tyler

I saw the trailer and to tell you while this looks good. Freddy seems to be kinda lame in this film, his voice is messed up, his face is totally gone. One good thing though is it looks like this will mark a more "serious" Freddy than the others, yet he does not look as evil as Wes Craven made him in part 7 - "New Nightmare".

Oh geez just what I wanted a Remake of a horror movie that is not even that old.
On top of that done in higher resolution and it has lost the gritty realistic look of the first one. Also considering Freddy was one of the few horror monsters who had speaking lines it is really hard to replace the image and the memory of Robert England in that role. I can understand with a reimaging like the new V but many of the scenes in that trailer are almost exact copies from the looks of it. Add to that Michael Bay and I am half expecting Freddy to make people explode instead of slicing and dicing. I will give the movie a chance but it will be when it comes out on DVD not on the big screen. The movies cost too much money for me to waste money on a movie I have already seen and seen it done with a lot better understanding of the horror genre.

So, it is said Freddy's Voice will most likely change from the trailer.

Also, I had no desire to see this movie but Robert Changed my mind. When he stopped in on RFR a few weeks ago and again when I sat with him in IL, he said to give it a chance.

Spin the interview, he is very open minded so I may too. Derek Mears (aka NEw Jason) told me hey give it a whirl if it sucks you have the original.

I heard they might still put a "comedy" side to Freddy, but thinking back in 1984 the original version, there was no comedy version. I believe the comedy started in part 2, and just became apart of him in other sequels. So my point is that while he may noy look comedic here, we still may get another soon.

Robert Englund is and will always be the ONLY Freddy Krueger. This new one is gonna suck. It happens every time some idiot decides to do a remake, to try and cash in on an old cash cow. They end up ruining it!

I think it's gonna be especially stupid if they play up the "Politically Correct" angle of the story of F.K. being wrongly accused. What's next? A movie about Jason Voorhees exonerated of all wrong-doing because he wasn't given a ball when he was three??? I've had enough of this PC crap!

                      Just my two cents!

I saw preview from TV On Demand, and it looks good. I just hope it's better than "Friday The 13th" remake!

I can't believe how many people just write these movies off before even seeing them. I would wager at least half go into these movies WANTING to not like them.

Yeah, go to it if you are satisfied with remakes. As long as people are willing to shell out $10 to se a remake, the studios have no need to create some new movies!!

I did post the new figure on my site yesterday from NECA. If that is any clue as to Freddy's look I am disappointed.
