  • Cool Character Idea?

Well this is for next year, I was thinking of ordering a flesh colored IMP mask from CFX and having blood splatters all over the face. I was going to wear a black leather jacket and a white bloody Tshirt underneath with bits of organ stuck to it. SOme messy bloody jeans and I will be holding a Screamline sledgehammer. The Character act is going to be EXTREMELY crazy and unstable. Saying stuff like "I want to wear your intestines...." random laughing. Stuff like that

    Ideas

Based on your other thread and this one, I think something doesn't sound right together. Not sure if the leather jacket and mask or the things you want to say with the mask go together. I love the mask and the guts ideas, but not sure on the conversation and clothes. Couldn't you do the same thing without talking? Show more talk less. Maybe with props, show them you playing with the guts, eating them going crazy over the props, I would think they would get the idea that you would love to do it to them. And maybe wear something else. To me a leather jacket and a talking imp saying what you want to say look weird together. Maybe its just me.

The description intrigues me, but what kind of background is your character supposed to have? I personally tend to somewhat agree with WelchWitch, in that it does seem a bit off. What kind of scene would this character be for?

Your concept is not a character, its a collection of ideas. There are no characters without stories, think of the story first then pull your character out of the story and put him in front of your patrons.
Hopefully your haunt has a backstory, where does your character fit in, what is his name?
answering these questions will help you immensely in character generation.

back story, Okay its long but its good

"Backstory for Gibbon the Devil Man"
Gibbon was property to a cruel, brutal circus. A freak, a sideshow... his deformed nature used as entertainment. His sideshow name was Gibbon "The Devil Man". A human born with wretched defects that gave him the apperence of a monster. Long pointy ears, sharp razor teeth. A macabe harsh facial structure.. a pale white face and a sly grin that never came off. Gibbon spending most of his time in solitude would always stay curled in the corner of his cage, twitching, chuckling.. waiting. After a Nights preformance the abusive ringleader was going to open the cage and torture Gibbon as usual for sick sadistic pleasure. As the ring leader bent over to open the cage Gibbon grabed the man by his shoulders and violently slammed his face against the bars multiple times. Gibbon took the key, opened the cage and spotted a sledge hammer a few feet from his cage. The ring leader hardly consience watched Gibbon in horror as he grabbed the hammer. Gibbon sickly uttered a psychotic chuckle and began to slam the heavy tool on the mans stomach. Up down up down with every violent slam his intestines would mash into a more horrible mess. Screams of pure agony emitting from the sadistic man. Gibbon grew bored and finished the man with a swift blow to the head collapsing his skull. Gibbon stood over the ring leader shivering, twitching and eventually giggling, he bent over and scooped a messy handful of the unrecognizable mess of intestines and devoured it. Gibbon let out a howl and walked off into the night to please his new craving..... Death..

(The outfit is going to be a pair of pants, probably black with some suspenders, a white dirty, bloody white shirt and a CFX flesh colored Imp mask with blood spots all over the face, hell wield the sledgehammer and a strand of intestines, The character will hardly talk just emit chuckles, breaths, moans, giggles the likes and act almost animalistic sometimes, Supposed to be a run away freak) Good?

I think your idea is really great, but really a cfx mask is a lot of money....think of all the props, or materials you can get with that kind of money
. If you have the money go with it, but for a home haunt I just think its maybe too much and there are other options. Check out these, may not be what you are looking for, but they fit to your face and are pretty cost effectivehttp://arrivalmask.com/masks/masks-main2.html....

Yeah, that's cool then. I've just noticed that some kids on here buy these masks just to buy them.....and then they don't put them to use . Obviously you've thought it out, with the back story, and it'll go to good use as a home and pro haunter. Good luck with you haunt and everything!

If all else fails it would be less expensive to just purchase the Imp foam latex appliance for only $50...http://compositeeffects.com/fa_imp.htm

But if you have the money, GO FOR IT!!! I can't wait to buy the silicone Imp myself...

I think the backstory is well thought out, and I think having him not talk as much as simply make noise will add to the character. With the backstory, I think it's a perfectly fine character, though obviously you'll need time to find that groove to make it really special, you know?

Yeah also, Im pretty skinny and a bit on the short side so It will look more creature like (Im not THAT small) but yeah, I definatly think overals and a dirty ripped white dress shirt would suit that best.

                        Ideas

I like it much better now. I like the back story, makes more sense now. I agree with the less talk and no leather jacket. Maybe have conversations with yourself. Maybe mumble and answer yourself. Mumble about the circus as if you are still there. Since you have had no normal human contact, you could even act like you have imaginary friends so to speak- voices in your head. Try to make your body as normal as can be since the defects are on the face only. So looking dirty and unkept would be perfect. I could see this. That is how I handle all my characters, I have to know the story, know the vision and see them. Feel them, become them. Much better. Good Luck.
