The remake is not great but really not bad. The make-up effects are great and there are a couple of good scares. It is NOT a direct adaptation of the book (which is both good and bad). It is more of a ghost story than a story about a demon possessed house which the book describes. The music is not quite as moody as in the original film but it works well here. All in all it was worth seeing in the theatre...
