ABOUT "Pumpkin HollowAR"
The mazes at Pumpkin Hollow present a challenging cornfield walk in the daylight hours, but navigating through endless cornfield paths by flashlight proves even more formidable. For evenings in the maze, bring your flashlight or rent one in the Pumpkin Hollow Store. Take an autumn hayride to the corn mazes and try to solve the large 6 acre maze. Mazes are available Mon. – Sat. 9-6 and Sun. 1-6. Also available on fright nights. If the large maze proves too difficult, navigating the paths of the smaller children’s maze may be a better option. The Friendly Forest first opened in 2004 to offer an option for younger children on Horror in the Hollow “Fright Nights”. The kid-friendly trail through a separate wooded area was re-vamped in 2007. The new Forest was also opened as a daytime activity on weekends. New scenes are planned each year. In 2011 a new pirate ship play area was added. Discover what new surprises await visitors there! Please dress appropriately. The Pumpkin Hollow Hayride is the perfect mode of transportation this fall. The hayride wagons are modified cotton wagons with high sides to prevent any accidental falls from the wagon. They are equipped with ramps or easy access steps. With assistance, at least one wagon is handicapped accessible. So, step back in time, and take a leisurely ride to the Pedal Tractors, Corn Mazes, Friendly Forest, Train Ride, or the Forest of Fright. For a real farm adventure, join the kids participating in the pig scramble each Saturday and Sunday afternoon. (1 and 3 pm on Saturday, 3 pm on Sunday). Children in two or more age groups attempt to catch a ribbon from a pig’s tail to win a prize. If you have a video camera, this is the event to record! To catch a ride on the Pumpkin Hollow Express (barrel train ride), cross Pomp Creek, board the hayride, and join in on the fun. This train ride is for small children and choo choos its way around the area. (Saturday and Sundays only) You can find more than admissions and tickets in the newly expanded Pumpkin Hollow Store. Before you leave, don’t forget to spend some time in the store finding just the right size Pumpkin Hollow T-shirt, gourds and gourd crafts, Halloween novelties, souvenirs, honey, or maybe even some Pumpkin Butter. Step outside the Kids’ Barn to explore Waterfall Pond. In the newest Pumpkin Hollow learning area, visitors will discover native fishes and learn how they live and grow. Take a few minutes to relax on the bench and enjoy the waterfall and fish. Whether you come hungry or work up an appetite in the Corn Mazes or other fun activities at Pumpkin Hollow, a visit to the Pumpkin Hollow Weenie Wag’n can quench a thirst or quiet “tummy rumbles”. Weekend visitors may choose from Hog Wild BBQ, BBQ Nachos, charcoal grilled burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, beverages, and “fresh-from-our-pumpkins” pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll. Drinks and snacks available on weekdays. Don’t forget to try our signature cider slushes!
