I read a bunch of posts about the Good ol drop panel played out by being overused. We have it once in our haunt. I was wondering what are some ways to disguise the drop panel to not make guests think its going to drop?

Drop Panel Twist?

Last year we had the cafeteria Daily specials on the drop panel and most folks had their face up really close to look at the pictures. Our drop panel makes a very loud steel to steel sound. I think you would jump even if you knew it was coming.
I have seen a drop panel with just a yellow arrow - "This way" on youtube.
That would fool me.Attached Files

Regarding the OP, I've always found haunts that use a lot of picture frames in hallways that aren't ever a drop panel have a natural diversion for a scare placed opposite the frames, because most people are looking for one of the frames to drop. The longer they go without a frame or picture dropping the more they [ I ] expect one to, which alone is a nice unsettling effect. Obviously this isn't present with a haunt virgin but aren't those pretty rare?
