  • how to create cracked paint look

    does anyone know a good trick or tip on how to make a cracked and flakey paint look. im trying to create a prison haunt and i want the bars to have that authentic look of rusted bars with paint over it which has flaked off and cracked. i know the pic i have is of wood, but i want that sorta look

        Elmers glue, mixed with the color you want for the base underneath color. Brush it on with a 4" brush.
        Then immediately go over it with your top color.
        What we did was I would start brushing a 4x8 panel with the glue paint mix. Then as I got about halfway down the panel, my wife starting painting over the glue with paint.
        The paint and glue dry at separate rates causing it to spread. We then clear coated the heck out of it. The results were amazing. And it was for an outdoor attraction, and held up for a few seasons.
