  • Transworld Budget Question

I was wondering for those who go to transworld just to attend seminars and not do a huge lot of prop shopping but just looking around, what type of budget do you have? How much money do I need to plan on saving for Transworld next year. Including hotel, seminar costs, entrance fees, etc.?

It all really depends on where you travel from, how long you'll be in town, and what you'll do at the show. I spent about $1,000 between travel, hotel, and food. That doesn't include the show admission, evening activities like haunt tours or parties, or seminars.

If you're a haunt owner, it's definitely the show to be at and I highly recommend it!

The show costs $50 entry. Hotels are typically around 150 per night so plan on $700 on hotels. They have speed seminars on Wed I suggest you do those and then maybe add another 10 seminars over the week. I think in total you'll spend around $1500 to $2000 with food. Its well worth it. The show is in St Louis so basically almost anyone can drive. Larry

It's about a 9 hour drive so not bad. What are some haunt tours that go on while transworld is live?

http://www.haashow.com/ has all the information you need on seminars/cost/events. And that's where you'll register for next year.

Depends on which hotel you stay at but they are mostly in the same ballpark, hotel(s) at or near the convention center run about $150 a night + plus about $30 in taxes (total $180 a night) If you drive or rent a car most places charge for parking and some have in-n-out parking but it runs $14 (and up) a day or more add that to hotel costs also you are now almost a $195 a night http://www.haashow.com/travel/hotels/ . Seminars run about $50 an hour per seminar per person, if a seminar is 1 hour = $50, 2 hours = $100. haashow.com does have the information you would most likely need. Registration is $50 per person if you register ahead of time (up to $300 for VIP?), food can be as much as you like to as little as you like (grocery store around the corner from Marriott), lots of downtown places to eat. DrFrightener posted this earlier in the forums and here is a link https://www.hauntworld.com/haunted_h...ist-Haunt-Show this gives a list of the seminars and a brief description, as most will tell you that have gone to a few seminars you get some really good ones and some not so great ones, it just depends??? Haunt tours and parties? Thursday opening night party is free, walking up to the bar(s) depends on what you order, tours can be expensive but it depends on what you are interested in? City museum event, you can go to City Museum for $10 without signing up for the transworld tour, the official Transworld tour I think is about $45 per person? To give you an idea, my wife and I went a couple weeks ago, we spent $537.75 on hotel check-in wed check-out saturday, $45 taxi for two from airport, $43 taxi back to airport, (we have rented a car when we have explored St. Louis and gone to evening haunt/tours and it runs about $100 for the car rental... however we saved money on parking this time), not including airfare just hotel/taxis/food/seminars/drinks ~ $1100 It all adds up quickly especially if you purchase things and really that what the TradeShow is about, people selling and others buying. his was our 5th time in 6 years and so much better than the other shows that we have been to imo. Hope this helps.

This is a lot of helpful information. Thanks for taking the time to do this for me.

You're welcome, its a great show and its pretty exciting / overwhelming the first time you go and you want to do everything you can because you dont know when you can make it back? But most likely you will have a good enough time that you will want to come back in a year or two? Good luck and have fun.

All those price ranges mentioned before are pretty accurate. My first time back in 2010 going by myself and flying I spent close to a grand on everything I did. That was food travel hotel and a few seminars/ haunt tours. Now I spend way less because I have my crew with me and the cost for lots of that stuff is divided. Plus we don't really do seminars as much just cause in the past I haven't found the value out of them. Then again, depends on how much you already know about the industry already. Socializing with other owners and the internet basically fill our needs. Best of luck and maybe we'll get to meet!!
