The Real Hannibal Lector
Ed Gein is the man behind the fictional character, Hannibal Lector, only Ed Gein was even worse. Born and raised in Wisconsin, this man is one of the state’s most notorious murderers and gruesome criminals.
Many think that Ed Gein became the way he was because of his upraising. His mother, a staunch Lutheran, talked to her boys about the evils of women, who were all whores, and would read them graphic versus about death from the bible. Gein became a social outcast at school and that was around the time his bad behavior started to arise.
After Geins mother and brothers died, he became isolated and his behavior started turning murderous and gruesome. Gein was arrested on murder charges and the following were found in his home: human skulls mountain on his bed, human skin made into lampshades, skullcaps used as bowls, window blinds with human lips, belt made from human nipples and socks made from human flash. Gein was also known for murdering little children around the town to make a collection of “shrunken heads” for his home.
One of the most disturbing things that Gein admitted to while he was incarcerated was the fact that he wanted a sex change. He didn’t want one to be a transsexual, but rather he wanted to make a “woman suit” so he could pretend to be his mother. Gein killed the bodies of many women, tanned their skins and started sewing together a “woman suit” that resembled his mother. He never did get the chance to finish the suit.
Gein died in 1984, but it is said that his ghost has roamed the area where he once lived. People have witnessed a younger Ed Gain walking or driving his car. A few couples have reported that while sitting at a lookout point, a man who looked like Ed Gain banged on their car windows.
Ed Gein is known as one of the most cruel, gruesome and evil serial killers ever. His horrid and heinous crimes have been used in thriller and horror movies throughout the years. Most notably, Hannibal Lector was based mainly off of Ed Gein and his crimes.
