Our Fire Marshal made it clear last season that all exterior doors of our building had to be always able to be opened from inside and totally incapable of being locked in such a way that someone inside would be prevented from getting out. Essentially, panic bars as on schools, auditoriums, etc. Our system previously had been hasps with padlocks on all exterior doors and during operation the doors were padlocked open. That's not acceptable, because the door 'could' be locked...
So we replaced all of the doors on the building with new steel doors with panic bar systems.
Here's the thing.... we have added a new outdoor section to the haunt that is inside an 8' fenced area. Under our code, we will have to have an emergency exit in this area. We have included a gate in the new fence for this purpose.. but I have never seen a panic bar system for a wooden fence gate. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions...
