  • Pierce Manor

Hey Guys! My name is Tristin Pierce and I just wanted to introduce myself into the haunted house industry. I am planning to open up a haunted attraction called Pierce Manor in Florence, Alabama in the Summer Season of 2011. If any of you guys would like to give me any tips or pointers out there, please do so.
    Thanks,

      Make this a sticky already!!!

haha...Can we go ahead and make this a sticky...seriously?! It's not a new haunter's fault they keep asking the same questions over and over, however, to those of us who have been around a while it's like the same question gets asked a few times a week and the answer is ALWAYS to read Kelly's book...it is THE haunter's source...experienced or inexperienced!!!

Like someone said before Kelly's book covers almost everything you never thought of about a haunt. http://www.hauntbook.com/products.html
For a great actor training video Check out Allen's site http://Stiltbeaststudios.com

Make friends with your local police and fire department. Contact city hall to make sure you follow all laws. Please post your site as well on this forum so I can add it to my list of places to see on off days from Haunted Hollow.

If you don't listen to it already check out Rotting Flesh Radio podcast it has alot of great information, products, and some good inspiration that might spawn some good ideas. http://rfrpodcast.com/

If you don't already carry a note pad with you start so you can write down ideas when you get them and sort them out later.

check your local thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales for stuff you can use for costumes.

Start to use the social networking sites to start some buzz and begin to research marketing options in your area.

Don't expect your haunt to be an instant success be prepared for some bad first few years. Hope for the best but always prepare for the worst.

That is about all I can think of off the top of my head this board is a great start the people here are all great and many haunt owners and haunt vendors come here.

Hire me to train your actors and do your radio commercials. That will ensure success...

Seriously, good luck and be sure to read back a few pages. LOTS of good information and advice from a lot of good people...(except Tater)

Sorry I haven't been on the forums as often as I usually am. I'm still recovering from the injury to my tailbone and only able to sit at the computer for short periods of time. :-o I'm on the mend though and I hope to have exciting news regarding some developments at Raycliff Manor soon! Thanks for all the kind words regarding my book. I really so appreciate it! I always enjoy reading and hearing about the progress others are making to realize their haunt dreams and it is always a great feeling to think I was able to help in any way.

Also, I second all the positive comments on Allen's training DVD on these forums! Outstanding tool for your haunt business!

                  Thanks

Thanks guys for all the info, I had actually got the idea to introduce myself through Kelley Allen's Book, So you want to be a Haunt Entrepenuer I have recently began to listen to Rotting Flesh Radio (and thanks to that I am hopefully attending the Midwest Haunters Convention) Our website is piercemanor.webs.com. My number is on our site, once you see our age and stuff you may think that we are young but My Co- Owner Taz and I are currrently trying to reach a goal of being the youngest-owned professional haunted attraction. We are currently helping and getting help from Vinny Grosso, Owner of Arx Mortis (Graystone Manor). So you guys don't think im trying to copy anything, I heard that the attraction will be changing i figured we would continue with the doctor theme. We may also change the name for it is still in the planning stages. I am hoping Pierce Manor will be a huge success.

                    Guys and ghouls!

I just talked with Thistin he seems like a good kid and only wants what we all have and thats a Screaming Successful Haunt! I strongly ask everyone here to take the time and guide him. Yes he's young but we were all young at some point. I wish him the best and hopefully Vinny and his crew will take him under their wings and show him the in's and out's of this industry as it seems he's not far from their haunt. Good Luck buddy and remember listen and learn and never pass judgement till till you hear all sides. Shane and its good luck buddy! Shane this time.
