  • Need help with my costume's stand-up collar

I found a cheap obus forme at the Dollar Store, light weight and the perfect shape for a nice high stand-up collar for the back of my character's cape.
I covered it in fabric and stained cheesecloth. The form itself has a wire frame and a mesh centre. I don't know how to make it stand up without tipping.
Even if I paper mached a perfect stand up collar , I wouldn't know how to keep it standing up straight. Any tips?

Can you post a photo of what you have so far, or a sketch of what you are trying to accomplish? Having a hard time envisioning what it is you are wanting to do to make a suggestion. Hopefully I can have some helpful words with better understanding it.

this is a good shot of a replica of Lily's black dress from LEGEND- her rediculiously high collar has a wire frame that rests on her shoulders and holds up the collar. a simpler wire frame would work fine to hold the collar up, it may be easier to look at fairie wing designs to see how they are kept upright and work in a similar vein.
      I hope this helps.

In the film LEGEND (Back when Tom Cruise was sane) Lily is seduced by te devil (Tim Curry...awesome) and there is a great scene where she has this dress. Watch the movie and check out the dress, its costuming genius....and pretty hot.
