Awesome job!
Your fireplace looks awesome. They seem to be a theme this year. Haha
I slaved away last week on our fireplace for our Dracula room. The fireplace was a last minute addition, but now that it's done it's amazing. The fireplace is built of wood and painted all black with a dry brush of red over the top. (looks brown...using real brown would've been too dark on black). The pics I have are just the construction pics. You can even see where I mapped out with tape the approx size of a portrait we want. Haven't had a chance to take FINAL pics, but just trust, the room is amazing. We have an oversized picture frame over the mantle, and a lot more detail work. The stone wall is all made of Styrofoam that has been carved and painted to look like real stone.Attached FilesO'Shawn McClendon

Awesome job. We created a foam fireplace last year, but I love the detail you have. Definitely gives us ideas for improving the design. Thanks!
Here's a picture with our camp counselor in front of our fireplace:

For the mantle I ended up using the top of a head board from an old water bed. I believe I'm going to replace the picture with an old razorback boar mount instead. It just so happened that this ended up being the perfect spot under the stair case to build this, otherwise it would have been enclosed dead space. There was enough room to give depth for the fire pit portion.Last edited by Scareview; 08-03-2009, 09:26 PM.

Nice work all,
Scareview I love your fireplace, the colors you chose really give it a feeling of weight. I do think a thicker mantle would be good, and you might consider making it look like wood in order to warm up the set. But the cold stone looks good to so maybe you dont want to do that after all. I hope you are addicted to foam after this, used right its an awesome tool in the tool box.
