  • Airbrush paint question

    Hello,
Just wondering for those who use airbrushes to do makeup... what do you use for paint? I find all kinds of temporary tattoo paint but am wondering if there is something that works good but is easier to take off?
    Thanks,
    Roy

We use two parts Mehron liquid makeup diluted with one part Ben Nye Final Seal. We purchase white, black, red, yellow and blue and our makeup artist mixes what ever colors he needs.

We've always used acrylic paint, those little bottles you find at arts and craft stores. Diluted to close to 2/3 paint to 1/3 water.

In the past we've used diluted Createx acrylic paints as well.

Do createx paints run when the actors start to sweat heavily? I'd think they'd be a great alternative interms of COST, but what about the length of time it lasts?

We sprayed the Createx paint with a top coat of final seal which helped greatly but by the end of the night the paint would still end up running and cracking. The liquid makeup diluted with final seal works much better and only runs about $1.80 an ounce. The trick to all makeup application is to make sure the actors skin is clean before application.

A good way to get people to clean their faces off before and after your show is to just buy the Sam's brand baby wipes in bulk. Yea, you go through a lot. But it ends up costing less than paper towels if you have them wash their faces.
